I still like listening to metal from time to time, but I listened to almost exclusively metal and some progressive rock while in high school. I also was a serious metalhead (leather jacket, tight jeans, shoulder length hair). I bought the satanic bible and a flying V and played in a thrash band (even though I always wanted to play in a prog band more back then).
That all ended in 2009 when I lost my virginity to this girl who was really into 70s/80s New Wave and Power pop. We dated for two years and I started getting into everything she liked and started seeking out all kinds of "new" music. I feel like maybe I was just pent up and felt emasculated as a virgin so I listened to aggressive music constantly. I also had to go back through the decade of the 00s and discover all the other music I had been missing out on.
Life has been better ever since.
