It influenced indie and lofi alot. HHAY's themes helped create a template for bedroom pop and indie folk. Daniel's alot more than a fat schizophrenic outsider. He's an icon. His unconventional style and advertising really made an impact on modern music more than you think. There's never going to be another Daniel Johnston. His music is pure art. Without DJ their would be no Neutral Milk Hotel. And without NMH their would be no indie rock.
