Remember, remember, the 5th of November.
Look out East coast, but you're
Gonna have a neighbor,
A rebirth land...
The praying Burning Sands.
We know there were worlds
So much older...
And they shall rise, and
Tell us much more the truth of man -
I see visions of sleeping peaks
Erupting...
Releasing all hell that
Will shake the Earth from end to end -
And this ain't bad news, good news,
Or any news... it's just the truth,
Better save your souls while
You can -
"Repent, the kingdom is at hand"

>Do I learn more theory?
Yes. Learn the circle of fifths, the diatonic scale, and functional harmony. Move on from there.
>Do I learn more songs from other bands?
If you play rock or metal, try country. Learn Cluster Pluck by Brad Paisley. Search Jim Lill on youtube for good country lessons. Move on to Vince Gill afterwards.

Learning scales and theory can help you to understand why and how things work. i.e. chord progressions, major and minor scales, etc. And granted, that information is good to know. But be that as it may, you can learn everything there is to know about chord progressions, scales, etc. but it doesn't necessarily qualify you to apply it yourself.
In other words, being an English professor doesn't make you a playwright.
I suggest that you find the aspects of music and guitar playing that appealed to you in the first place, and become great at those things. You will become a better player by practicing the songs, sounds, and techniques you naturally enjoy, and won't be so disheartened by the amount of information out there. Jimi Hendrix wasn't great because he knew everything about playing. He was great because he found what appealed to him most, mastered it, and created his own sound.
