Why is this band so hyped up?
>Boring
>Most popular album only has 3 or 4 good songs
>lead singer was a glorified junkie
>responsible for the Foo Fighters
>couldn't play worth a shit
>Cobain was just a whiny faggot
I don't see how people can hate pop-punk/emo and still think this shitnisngood when it was the same shit and basically responsible for the music industry wave of talentless annoying hacks for about a decade after Cobain bit it, along with Pearl Jam they are probably the worst thing to happen to rock music.

kinda agree on a few point
but gota admit their album still kicks ass 2 decades later

>Pop Music with guitar distortion
not an argument
If there was any justice in the world, Afghan Whigs, Guided By Voices and Pavement would have become the defining American rock bands of of the 90s instead of Nirvana, Soundgarden and fucking Pearl Jam.

>Not good
>>73272651
they didn't want that and that's precisely what gave them a niche. and no one wants even more Pavement fans in the world.

>>responsible for the Foo Fighters
Don't blame him for the Foo Fighters.

>boring
the music is pretty energetic actually, worked well at riling people up
>most popular album only has 3 or 4 good songs
that might be true, but in utero has all good songs
>lead singer was a glorified junkie
irrelevent
>responsible for the Foo Fighters
eh, their first album was actually good
>couldn't play worth a shit
all of them were actually decent at their instruments
>Cobain was a whiny faggot
once again, irrelevent
>I don't see how people can hate pop-punk/emo and still think this shitnisngood
I only hate badly-done pop-punk and emo
>when it was the same shit
it wasn't
>basically responsible for the music industry wave of talentless annoying hacks for about a decade after Cobain bit it
irrelevent to Nirvana
>along with Pearl Jam
Ten is good
Hey it's a 'Look at me, I'm cool for hating a popular band, check out my over-simplified opinions that don't take into consideration the wider context of the band's cultural significance within their own zeitgeist' thread.
Are you going to start a Beatles-hate thread next?

Oh, you mean just like almost every single rock album ever released?

FACT
>Pop Music with guitar distortion
It's funny you say that like it's an insult when that's more or less what Cobain called their stuff. He never liked grunge and preferred stuff like New Wave and 60s Pop.
>responsible for the Foo Fighters
Yeah right, Dave Grohl's been in like 16 bands at once. It would've happened regardless.
>Most popular album only has 3 or 4 good songs
Nobody actually thinks Nevermind is their best though.
>along with Pearl Jam they are probably the worst thing to happen to rock music.
What's with the Pearl Jam hate anyway? They were just another grunge band that were around at the right time, I don't think the impact they had is really comparable in this case.

>Afghan Whigs
Fantastic band. Way too adult-sounding for the 15-year old MTV audience which made up the front ranks of the grunge fanbase though. Also, 1965 is the best album.

>Guided By Voices
Also fantastic but come on, there was no way a bunch of middle-aged working-class Ohio drunks banging out lo-fi pop songs in their basements were ever gonna become popstars.
>Pavement
I honestly think they could have become massive if they were promoted better and signed to a major label.
