it is complete trash
Taken on its own terms, it's a good rock album. It just doesn't stand up to the classic material though.
I agree
I loved the fuck out of this album when i was like 10 with my pops. So i have nostalgia for it for sure. Id fault it for the songs being too bloated, going back to it now there are alot of awesome ideas there, and bleeding me is still fantastic. I actually respect Metallica for doing this, werent they all still raging alcoholics during this time period? It makes sense in that context. I prefer load and reload to anything st. anger and onward, desu
bleeding me / outlaw torn are bangers
it's not trash! it's thrash
XD
Is Metallica's post-s/t output the only albums that normies, plebs, contrarians, and patricians can agree is bad?

Plenty of normies like DM and HTSD and plenty of contrarians like St. Anger.

trash

Honestly my favorite Metallica album. Not really metal, but it has such a unique vibe to it. Sorta country western meets hard rock with lots of groove.

its their attempt at a stoner metal album

Could this article be any more wrong...?

When you take the best bits on Load and Reload and put them together onto a single album while getting rid of all the filler you end up with an 8/10 hard rock record.
Taken on their own, Load and Reload are substandard.

What an inane pile of shit.

St. Anger is a compelling record(even if it is more interesting as a self-portrait of a band on the verge-of self-annihilation than it is as a cohesive collection of songs) and Lulu is one of the best things they've ever done(though that has as much to do with Lou Reed as it does with Metallica) and one of the best albums of the decade so far.
