Where can I get this magnificent instrument? Preferably something that's not vintage because that just means more $$$ along with more wear/tear.

Theres synths like the Novabass and minibrute but they are really synthy. You could always get a midi keyboard and virtual rhodes vst

1. Get Mr. Ray 73 rhodes simulator (free): http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=37
2. Get TubeBaby tube amp simulator (also free): http://www.ndzeit.org/guitar/tubebaby.html
3. Load up Mr. Ray 73 and apply TubeBaby.
4. Turn the bass knob to 10.00 and the gain to 3.50.
5. (optional) Add a small bit of reverb.
6. Adjust the Mr. Ray settings to fit your needs.
