why? because they took more risks and created more intriguing music that still shakes people up to this day it has more longevity and can withstand the effects of time and culture therefore its better

white light/white heat could have been experimental and very risky at the time, but its production is utter shit. sounds like a bootleg live recording more than a studio product. sounded horrible back then, sounds horrible right now.

Just because it's too long for you to sit through doesn't make it wank. I like how it takes a typical blues structure and extends it to absurd length, and the noisy back and forth between Cale and Reed is very engaging.

Sister Ray needed to be a 5 minute song. Helter Skelter started out as a 27 minute jam, and they shortened it nicely to 4 minutes. That's the treatment Sister Ray needed. There's a good song in there somewhere. The thumping guitar licks are great but not for 25 minutes.
