television is a rock band. their energy and style was their environment. they didn't invent post punk nor did they play punk. they just embodied both with no clear relevance of timeline.

Pink Flag was into similar territory in a much different environment.

First post-punk record to me is Buzzcocks' Another Music in a Different Kitchen.
