Keeping in mind that none of the parts were written for this, the base guitar tone is too tight and no mixing of the voices has been done it stills sounds reasonably promising for the hypothetical genre.

This doesn't work in practice. You can't play fast or make fast chord or note changes with shitloads of reverb.

For instance, the fast tremolo picking of blackgaze does work with reverb because there aren't rapid note or chord changes, it's essentially droning.

A lot of shoegaze uses very few chords and is played more slowly and with less complicated chord progressions than other types of rock music for this reason.

Check out In Ribbons and Mrs Dolphin too. Mrs Dolphin is a compilation of non-album material, and has a few essential songs (Colours And Shape, She Rides The Waves, and Half Life, Remembered)

In Ribbons is probably the stronger of the two, it's more cohesive. It doesn't have jangle pop/noise pop like the first one, just neo-psych. If that's what you like about their first album, the second can be a little harder to get into.

I liked Slowdive album and Cherry Wave, behind on music haven't listened to most others.

Could add the new Hazy Mountains album Small Hours. All instrumental, kinda electrogaze but really good imo. Def not mbv-style or classic shoegaze but it has the tag on their bandcamp.
