Not sure if it's dream pop enough for /shugazi/, but i quite like it
(warning: weeb-ish vocals)
I know everyone here loves noise pop, but are /shugazi/ fans of straight up noise? I think there was a merzbow album on one of the charts.
>>73254387

i think people should consider yellow swans' going places shoegaze

>>73254387
Noise is the modern art equivalent in music. It's just that. Noise. It's like watching at "invisible art". You have to be a raging hipster to even pretend to like noise.
>>73254436
You have to be a raging pleb to misunderstand the (actually very simple) appeal that badly.
Will Winter release new album this summer?
I know they released some singles last years, but Supreme Blue Dream was very comfy desu.
>>73254436
That title belongs to Lowercase more than anything.
I don't know how someone could enjoy shoegaze and think that, seeing as some lovesliescrushing, flying saucer attack and even mbv is borderline noise.

>>73304341
Deathgaze is such an obviously great genre tag I have no idea why nobody has made it yet. If I were any good at guitar I'd do it but unfortunately death metal has a bit of a skill barrier to entry.
>>73318220
>Deathgaze is such an obviously great genre tag I have no idea why nobody has made it yet
I can't think of any way to blend the sounds of the two genres well, black metal has a lot more in common with shoegaze to begin with so it makes more sense
>>73318439
Honestly just death metal style shredding with loads of reverb and some lush effects sounds nice to me. I just took a Necrophagist song and slathered it in reverb as an example. Keeping in mind that none of the parts were written for this, the base guitar tone is too tight and no mixing of the voices has been done it stills sounds reasonably promising for the hypothetical genre.

Shoegaze is all about dreaminess through heaviness to me, which is actually something I think a lot of blackgaze lacks.
Deathgaze would be tight.
>>73318709
>Honestly just death metal style shredding with loads of reverb and some lush effects sounds nice to me.
This doesn't work in practice. You can't play fast or make fast chord or note changes with shitloads of reverb.
For instance, the fast tremolo picking of blackgaze does work with reverb because there aren't rapid note or chord changes, it's essentially droning.
A lot of shoegaze uses very few chords and is played more slowly and with less complicated chord progressions than other types of rock music for this reason.
Does anybody else like this more than Loveless?

Check out In Ribbons and Mrs Dolphin too. Mrs Dolphin is a compilation of non-album material, and has a few essential songs (Colours And Shape, She Rides The Waves, and Half Life, Remembered)
In Ribbons is probably the stronger of the two, it's more cohesive. It doesn't have jangle pop/noise pop like the first one, just neo-psych. If that's what you like about their first album, the second can be a little harder to get into.
(A Thousand Stars Burst Open is GOAT though)

Crescendo - Lost Thoughts
