>still talking about their old work
I was at the Chicago show two years ago and I yelled after them "LOWRIDE! COME BACK HERE AND PLAY LOWRIDE!", already having a clear idea that no such thing would happen. The set was being struck within seconds of their departure.
Another anon walked up to me and asked me what I thought, I was pleased of course, "oh yeah this is my second show". This guy had a bigger dick than me and didn't hesitate to whip it out: "oh yeah this is my fifth I've seen them in Berlinxyzqh. And they NEVER do encores." This squared with my experience ten years previous.
Every live show, as far as I've been able to tell, is a broadcast. A singular Bulletin of where they're at right now, which will contain notes of very recent researches (L-event and part of Exai in this case, Untilted in the former), but the live show is always doing The New Thing, whatever it is. And then it's [stop] and on to the next.
I myself love the early stuff as a reference point, but when you understand how they actually work and have done for the past many years, such discussion becomes quaint.
