Why would you choose such tiny speakers over the rest of the collection?
>>
>>73242485
They're the best sounding of the bunch...(well, tied with the T100's) Plus with the sub doing most of the hard work, they only have to play mid and treble.

>hur dur horns are honky
Sure thing bro. That only means the amp you were using wasn't compatible or bright to begin with. Warm amp + Klipsch is a dream. Haven't had anyone tell me about fatigue or similar. Its all compliments here.
>>
>>73242727
Some sort of foam or playdoh to reduce vibrations from the subwoofer being 5 feet away
>>
>>73242759
That exactly.
Memory foam blocks wrapped tightly in plastic wrap, with a couple small holes pricked in it.
>>
>>73242740
Not knocking the horns.
In fact I have a couple horns that I'm working on right now.
Big JBL mo fo horns.
I'll post a pic in a minute.
>>
>>73242820
A lot of people like to shit on horns. My bad for misinterpreting. I have many Klipsch speakers myself and wouldn't have it any other way at this point. Cornwalls, Forte's, and Heresy.
>>
I'd like to buy a small subwoofer like the Jamo Sub 800 or Cambridge x201. Are these recommended? I'm not a huge basshead, but crisp, accurate bass is definitely a beautiful thing.
>>
>>73242909
You're gonna want to find a sub that can reach lower than ~40Hz desu. I can't justify buying anything that doesn't reach 20Hz. The lower the better (for me). Find one with a 10 or 12" speaker

JBL guts.
2482 drivers
2350 horns and adapters.
The other horn is in the garage. It's got some water damage. I might also replace the diaphragms.
>>
>>73242967
Wish you luck on the venture. I'd do some upgrades on my current mains but Crites doesn't have much to offer.

They originally came in these beat ass wood cabs. Scored them for $20 from a 2nd hand shop in Taber.
>>
>>73242966
The Cambridge x201 is rated at a frequency response of 36 Hz. Is that okay?

I have consider getting an SVS SB-1000. It's pretty compact for being a 12", and SVS has a good reputation.

It's a little above my budget, though.
>>
>>73243012
>>73243081
You can probably find a used Klipsch RW-12D. They're basically the same and since the 12D is no longer continued should be ~$200 I'd wager. They sold for $300 near their end of production for reference.
>>
>>73243081
>36 Hz
To add, my speakers >>73242622 are rated down to 32Hz. Can get the house rocking pretty good with a few knobs turned. Having an actual subwoofer is better though
>>
>>73243107
>>73243131

Duly noted. I think I might just save up and get an SVS SB-1000 or something similar to that. Any recommendations are appreciated. $500 absolute max.

For reference, I currently have two ELAC UB5 bookshelves.
>>
>>73243249
I'm not much of a subwoofer guy and anything I look at is usually between $1k-2.5k now so I can't offer much. Though my first sub was the RW-12D. It was good to me until it fell off the counter top from someone else. Would always recommend to anyone provided it was available. The one that replaced it is over your price range now it seems.

I have a pair of B&W 604 S4 powered by a 200w NAD amp.

Sounds alright, wish it had a fatter mid as it's relatively flat, a tad bit agressive in the 2-3 khz area when pushed to past 75%.

Works for pretty much any genre.
Have a tidy little 10" XTZ 10.16 300W rms subwofer to do the low end, even though the Bowers are listed down to 35hz and packs a punch down in the 40-80 area. The sub really only helps with the 25-60 area and works really well with the speakers.

Cant complain. It's a setup which will probably last me half my lifetime considering I rarely push the volume knob past 12 o clock.
