This is almost as laughable as arguing Lou Reed is the best rock guitarist. He was one of the best jazz bandleaders though.

Art Tatum definitely had the best technique of all time but he came about too early in the history of jazz and more creative ways of playing simply didn't exist back then. I think Herbie Hancock is the overall best jazz pianist

Cant even remember a single motif from any of his work. his playing is so typically Japanese in that sure its technically proficient but it doesnt sound interesting. Being able to belt out 64th notes at 120BPM and changing the key every bar is amazing, sure, but does it sound *good*? No. The only song I even remember is Autumn Leaves from that goddamn meme album I own Scenery and the chigger didn't even write it.
