Some weird choices on this one.
i know i've posted this before but: how the fuck do i properly listen to an album? it takes me at least 4 listens to "get" an album, and maybe even more. if i find it catchy im lucky to have 2 listens. i dont understand how people can listen and rate an album a day.
and im still not literate enough to get why some albums are classics, or why some albums are not. i feel like im missing a huge background on genres on the like. will these essential charts or general guides for each genre help me?

Honestly, I give different alums different amounts of time. If I didn't like an album on the first listen through then I'll put it aside in favour of albums I liked more (unless it's a classic, or otherwise critically praised, in which case I'll make an effort to see why people like it). I feel like people who rate an album a day are only listening to a lot of those albums once through.
Honestly, you do you man. Read up on genres you're interested in, find out what the classics are, the foundational albums and then go from there. Make peace with the fact that you can't listen to everything. Remember that sometimes albums become classics because they were innovative at the time and have just aged badly since (*cough* Banana *cough*). And don't stress out. Everybody on this board is pretending to have heard more than they actually have.

Made this in like 5 mins off the top of my head, anyone got other albums which suit a summer sunset type atmosphere?
I want to make a proper essentials chart out of it.
