Okay, we can all admit that this is a future classic. Possibly going to be the single most famous album of the 2010s.
But how will we look back at the message behind it, and its timing in political history? The BLM movement feels like it's died down a lot since 2015. Will this be the soundtrack to the movement's victory or just the soundtrack to a political phase?

Glad to see /mu/ is fully capable of having an intelligent discussion about music and culture.

Whether it's harmless shitposting or not, you just can't have a serious discussion about TPAB (Or really Kendrick) without getting meme spouted. I think it will largely be forgotten by the mainstream audience, but will still remembered as a classic for fans who dig even the tiniest bit.

It's going to take a long time before people become more critical of the efforts of much of the social justice movements from the last decade or so. This will take longer than it will for people to begin regarding TPAP as being a modern classic. If we ever get to a point where we feel stuff like BLM and other things like this were a phase then it will be long after TPAB becomes even more of a gold standard for quality than it already is. And it's impact in social dimensions is forever going to be intertwined with people's perception of the album's quality as a result.
no it won't

>it will largely be forgotten by the mainstream audience
Kendrick Lamar is HUGE right now and will definitely be remembered by the mainstream audience. This is widely regarded as his magnum opus so far.

>BLM movement
>victory
But anon, white people still exist.
It would be pretty sad if it is put up there that high. There was nothing on this album that wasn't done better by someone else.
did kenny talk identity politics on overly dedicated or before?

Sure, Kendrick is huge. But not because of TPAB. His best charting tracks are off DAMN and GKMC. I do agree TPAB is his magnum opus but a lot of people who like Kendrick haven't heard more than 3 tracks off it.

This
It's just not the time for albums anymore

This
Too bad GKMC is way better.
