Believe it or not, modeling is actually EXTREMELY physically taxing on the human body. Career models end up suffering from all sorts of chronic health conditions later in life because of all the time spent posing. And don't even get me started on what high heels do to these poor people's feet over the years.

Wow, very inflated

I feel like "lyricist" is just a part of "songwriter", "sound engineer" is a part of "producer", and you can group visual artist along with "video director", "Dancer", "live performer"

>I feel like "lyricist" is just a part of "songwriter", "sound engineer" is a part of "producer", and you can group visual artist along with "video director", "Dancer", "live performer"
That's probably because you've never tried doing any of them (much less more than one at a time) professionally desu. E.g. even classic songwriting masters like Schubert or Brahms went out of their way to avoid having to write original lyrics for anything because of the added work that would entail.
>>

>>
>>73195262
>Anything else are jobs on their own.
Not really. Engineering should be a part of being an actual producer, if you are doing it right

Everything else is an umbrella of visual arts. its like saying a drummer plays snare, floor tom, rack mount tom, crash cymbal, ride cymbal, hi hat and kick
>>
>>73195205
Actually, it's the other way 'round. Career models (and even moreso ballet dancers) have a very high tendency to get into heavy drug addictions as their careers progress as a direct result of them self-medicating for pain.

It's not. Putting dancing, drawing, directing, editing in the same basket is insulting to those who spent their lifetime doing these jobs. They're separate things that require separate skills. e.g. You could be a great drawer but a terrible dancer.

They're not inflated at all. These are things she actually did.
- She did ballet for 11 years. She dances on stage too.
- She directed & edited almost all her videos.
- She drew for over a decade. The cover art of her albums has been done by her.

Producers' work happens from in-front of the desk and in a DAW. Engineers' work from behind the desk and inside the actual recording booth. It's the same division of labor you find in the computing industry between Computer Science and Information Technology professionals. Engineers are hardware specialists, producers are software specialists.

Yes. But that doesn't take anything from her skills. Those other skills contribute to her music career: - - dancing: entertaining the crowd;

- director & editor - promotional music videos;
- model: promoting herself + making some extra money that allows her to buy equipment and live a comfortable life --> supports her music making.

No shit, Sherlock. Sound engineering and music production are both specialized fields of knowledge. Home studio setups might enable a single person to go about effectively accomplishing both tasks, but they don't change the specific fields of practiced knowledge (hard-science electrical engineering and acoustics for sound engineering, and soft-science software manipulation and sound psychology for music production) required of a single individual to arrive at an effective result.

Anon, that's one of my posts. Anyone with a brain knows that being a lyricist (composing poetic verse for the purpose of setting it to music) and being a songwriter (composing bars of music using the raw language of sound) are fundamentally different tasks, most often performed by different sets of people.

>Not relevant
Irrelevant to music in 1955, perhaps. But most DEFINITELY relevant to music made since at least 1982 (when the Compact Disc came into being.)

Of course, because music can be objectively rated and graded to be good or bad on the basis of fundamental natural laws deeply rooted in the fabric of the universe.

Tell me more about how in love you are with someone you've never met, even though she looks like a unibrow goblin wearing a thrift store

She has more armpit hair than a friend of mine who is 19 lol

>Wrong, since a song is defined as the marriage of music and lyrics
See https://youtu.be/iBVkYGLEUpg
Songs are musical compositions centrally oriented around the presence of vocals - lyrics are optional. Yet another reason why lyric writing and songwriting are fundamentally different skills - they can be practiced completely independently of each other.
>>
>>73199060
i'm not sure why i hold onto it either

she's plenty self-sufficient and happy to be maintaining her own armpit hair for her own good and no'one elses. why even comment on it

She dropped out near the end. She already studied something, enough to help her in her music career.

She has more style than the late Michael Jackson.

I'm not a huge Grimes fan and don't know her music that well, but I think it's pretty good. And regardless of whether people agree, I doubt that most on this board have as wide a variety of skills as she does.

Even if I actively disliked her music I would agree that she is really impressive, respectable, and hardworking. It has literally zero to do with her being a female. At the most, the fact that she writes and produces her own music sets a good example/standard for other female musicians, especially in pop music, which is commendable.

No one ever asked for your personal qualifications on anything ITT (since the thread isn't about you.) You were asked for external verification something that you offered on your own (see >>73195241 ) Without that external verification, your claim is meaningless.

>The information [about Grimes having studied Electroacoustics at McGill University] is not contained within the link. Try again
From that link:
>Audie Cornish: I read that you actually studied neuroscience in college? Or just the sciences generally?
>Grimes: Actually, I was in a program at McGill called Electroacoustics, where we studied a lot of how the brain interacts with music. So by the time I actually started making music, I kind of had an understanding of frequencies and kind of how the brain responds to things, which I think really helped me as a producer: Even though I had no experience playing instruments and stuff, I kind of had a basic understanding of engineering. My learning curve was maybe a tiny bit shorter than maybe someone who hadn't studied that stuff.
