Why do people tend to enjoy New Order more than Joy Division

you really can't think of a reason why a person might enjoy nice synthpop over depressive post-punk?

Funny, I think it's the opposite. People overrate Joy Division way too much when New Order is much better, practically a matured Joy Division, the same way late My Bloody Valentine is much more mature and better than early My Bloody Valentine (when David Conway was the singer).

New Order is 3/4 of Joy Division, so the same musicians behind JD are the same ones making club hits like Temptation and Blue Monday. I personally think JD are better, but New Order have tons of amazing singles, and their 80s albums are all amazing.

I think it's spectacular that New Order were able to pick themselves up after Ian's suicide.

Joy Division is hardly depressing compared to Scott Walker's The Drift and Tilt. Nick Cave's Skeleton Tree for crying out loud. I love Joy Division, but their albums are only a slight bummer compared to the ones I've mentioned.
