is good?
>>
its a nice concept album about roger having sand in his vagina
>>
He poses a good question though: is this the life we really want?

Are you happy, /mu/? Are you happy? Answer honestly
>>
>>73126925
I'm trying!
>>
>>73126646
I love it.
>>
>album starts with clock ticking
>>
Can this get a 4/5?
>>
>>73126925
>>73126925
no. not at all.
>>
He's opposed to Russian mail order brides?

Wow thanks for the help Roger. Must be easy for a rock star to point his finger at my options for a girlfriend.
>>
>>73127499
Just be yourself, anon.
>>
>>73127523
Damn.
>>
the last refugee is my favourite song so far
>>
>>73127523
thats the problem
>>
This album is really great.
>>
>>73126643
wow, I cant believe that this album is how he finally told his fans about his heart cancer
>>
>>73126925
it's far from perfect, but most of the imperfections are due to my own laziness
>>
>>73126643
Much better than amused to death IMO
>>
Picture That is fucking magnificent
>>
>>73128278
Same here. I love the title track too.
>>
Is it just me or did it sound like he pulled a lot from The Wall. If so is that normal for him?
>>
>check on spotify
>3 songs have 100k+ plays
>rest of the songs have <1000
>>
>>73126643
How much anti-Trump and pro-refugee virtue signaling is there?
>>
>>73129703
Those 3 songs were singles so we're released before the album
>>
>>73129709
I don't think any. Phobia released the big anti-Trump album today.
>>
>>73129685
It does sound really Pink Floydish, no, his solo work is not that reminiscent of this style.
>>
>>73129851
Now the cover strikes me as more than just a coincidence. Is This The Wall: 40 Year Update? Or something like that. I mean he brings up WW2 and all kinds of shit.
>>
>>73129709
surprisingly little

it's actually not that bad
>>
Probably AOTYSF. Plentyy of awesome songs on this album. It has that classic Pink Floyd/Roger Waters vibe without feeling dated.
>>
>>73129709
no pro-refugee.

One song has a Trump sample
>>
Is it better than The Endless River?
>>
>>73130557
Absolutely.
>>
looking forward to hearing it, i noticed a lot of samples from other albums in the singles, bits of dark side and animals / wywh etc
>>
musically i am finding some tracks to be a bit boring, and lacking in a memorable melody.
>>
>>73131318
Interesting, I wonder if this is his finale.
>>
>>73127363
yes!!!
>>
>>73126643
I'm actually surprised how good this is
Shame p4k had to be stingy and give it a 6.9
Literally why not 7?
>>
>>73128344
Wut
>>
it's a very good album
>>
>>73126643
FUCK DRUMPF AND WHITE PEOPLE LMAO
>>
>>73133325
>implying that Roger Waters hasn't been doing this for decades
>>
>>73133335
Yeah he has and now more than ever he has a real reason to whine and make shitty music about it
>>
>>73133335
Has he? I know he's a socialist but can you give some specific examples?
>>
>>73133420
Animals, the wall, the final cut, amused to death, etc

The Wall is not political as much as the other oneas, it does not belong there, it is a story more about invidiual, a story about how humans are hiding behind their walls and this idea is put into the Pink character.
>>
Loving it. Picture That is excellent as is the title track. Bird in a Gale is neat too.

Roger Waters just blew away both The Endless River and Rattle That Lock. Now will David Gilmour fanboys finally admit that Roger is a better songwriter than David?
>>
It's a decent album. I really like Picture That, the title track and Smell The Roses. I need to listen some more though and judge the rest better.
>>
>>73134368
They will always like David more because "my guitar solos"

>>
What I'm wondering about this album is, does it even have a concept? Is this a Roger Waters album with no concept, just a few similarly themed songs collected together???
>>
>>73135109
There must be a concept going on, I cannot tell what it is, it floats together and there are a lot of parts where there are sound effects like In The Wall, this has to be conceptual in some sort, I dunno how

anyone got a link?

Deja Vu is comfy as FUCK
>>
Is this the most profanity filled album from Waters? This shit is raw as fuck
>>
This is his best solo album hands down
>>
>>73135369
Nah. Easily his second best, but AtD is fucking fantastic.
>>
I really like this so far. Currently on broken bones and I love the way roger swears
>>
>>73135244
finally, his big break
>>
what a work of art

songwriting is on point, everything sounds great, Roger sounds 20 years younger than he did on Amused to Death (seriously, he sounds so fucking elderly on AtD, why), the scream on Deja Vu is probably the album highlight

not that AtD is bad, but this is so much more reserved, the messages are important, and the last 3 songs are fantastic - the way they all merge, and the change in tone from "fuck the world" (rightly so) to the idea that the right person can bring out compassion in anybody. i love it
>>
I keep getting a bowie vibe from this
>>
>>73134883
Yes
Also check all the fucking guests in A Momentary Lapse of Reason. Mason does barely anything.
>>
>>73135759
>Mason barely does anything
It's dissapointing seeing him in the delicate sound of thunder and pulse dvds, doing barely anything. Especially when you compare that with how he played in Live at Pompeii.
>>
This album feels more Pink Floyd that actual Pink Floyd after Waters left.
>>
>>73135914
this
>>
>>73126891
The liberal cuckold. Pink Floyd still remains my favourite band though
>>
This is the only thing I've heard by any of them that they've made in the last 35 years. So it's kinda funny I take it for granted like " what? It doesn't all sound like this?" It's just weird, this is what Id expect 35 years ago not only until 35 years later.
>>
He has too much to say and doesn't have the musical ability to keep anyone interested long enough to sit through it. If I wanted to hear an old man rant about politics for fifty minutes I would've just gone to my parent's house.

it really activated my almonds
>>
actually really impressed with this album
good job roger best thing youve done in years
>>
i never thought i'd like the vocals on a roger waters song so much, but man does he sound great on the last refugee. and the scream on deja vu is also brilliant. didn't expect him to sound so good given his voice on amused to death.

crazy how a 73 year old can still have so much left in him

so is roger waters just trying to see how many times he can say fuck in a song?
>>
>>73136795
Really makes you think huh
>>
Well done roger
>>
>>73130557
Anything's better than The Endless River.
>>
if what he said about another album is true i really hope we get it soon
>>
>>73135759
Not like he ever did anything in the first place. Mother and Two Suns in the Sunset have session drummers because he apparently can't handle anything not in 4/4.
>>
>>73136612
I've always said Roger was the most important member of the Pink Floyd. David is a top notch guitarist and a good singer but he's a mediocre songwriter. Pink Floyd died after Roger left.

at the moment, yes. although I find it hard that roger waters could relate to me or any normal person anyway

to quote one of waters' own proge worshippers
>The music of rebellion
>Makes you want to rage
>But it's made by millionaires
>Who are nearly twice your age
>>
>>73134368
uh everyone already knew waters was better
even his shows are better, how can dave even compete
>>
>>73139816
>nearly twice your age
but he's like 4 times my age
>>
>>73134368
On an Island is the best of the bunch, though
>>
>>73139881
On An Island is probably the best but Pros and Cons/Life We Really Want are up there.

>The Wall is not political
>>
>>73139961
>...as much as the other ones

woah, context, woaaaaah.

The Wall does make comment on politics, but it is not its focus. If you think that then you are an idiot.
>>
>>73140042
yeah i know the focus is the muh dead daddy issues problems waters heavily marketises on
>>
>>73140110
Nah, the focus is on, y'know, the fucking wall, the name of the fucking album. His daddy is just a part of that wall, fuck's sake, there is only one song about his father dying. One.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>73140159
k roger
>>
>>73140159
this tbqh
>>
>>73140168
And it's pretty subtle too, that song is "Another Brick In The Wall PT.1" with only "daddy flew across the ocean"
that is it, that is all the daddy issues.
>>73140168
Actually, if I were Rogers, I wouldn't say that, because Rogers has been desperately trying to make the album somehow relavant more to politics on his 2015 tour, even though that's not what The Wall is.
>>
>>73140210
>that is it, that is all the daddy issues
most people just use that as an excuse to mock or criticize the record. it's a stupid excuse. another brick in the wall part one is also one of the best songs waters ever wrote imo
>>
>>73140210
Since the tour in 2012 he has been trying to make The Wall look more politic than it actually is.
Personal relationships people develop between themselves and how they act upon them is politics at it's most primal stage anyways and that's kinda of what The Wall is about.
>>
>>73140252
People who use that excuse didn't listen or pay attention to The Wall, it's a beatiful album which has an important message, which most people don't get and assume it is self-pitying and all-blaming and cynical, when in fact all of that is the opposite, especially proven by the final (and most important) track.

>>73140258
Showing Obama's speech to transition into Another Brick In The Wall Pt.3 and then adding a special song for the tour about a man who was shot by police for being tought he was a terrorist, wrong fully so has NOTHING to do with the album or its concept, and he puts it after Another Brick In The Wall Pt.2. That doesn't make any fucking sense.

These are the biggest offenses I can think of when I saw the movie, the tour itself was amazing but these parts really seemed off.
>>
>>73140313
>the tour itself was amazing but these parts really seemed off.
Here i Brazil it touched a vein when the projection about Jean Charles de Menezes went up desu
There's also the Eisenhower quote and a lot of other stuff. Plus the whole Hammer thing is quite political too.
>>
>>73140351
I meant nerve, anyways.
Even if the songs aren't quite political the tour made them so because like the movie it becomes an audiovisual expression of something, and you gotta see that as a whole in the moment instead of excluding elements. They complete each other.
>>
>>73140392
I think the album stands on its own and all the stuff like the tour, or even the movie are different visions of it. Different takes on it.

I didn't like a lot of decisions the movie has done, listening to the concept album is much like reading a book, but you get to use even moroe of your imagination and fill in even more blanks. Which is what makes them so special, to me.

So, when I saw ass judge in The Trial, I wasn't too stocked about it.
>>
>>73140489
But the ass judge was in the album's artwork, the inner sleeve for the record for example.
>>
Solid 8/10.

I love that I had no expectations, listened.. and got "actual, not watered down" Pink Floyd from the future. It's literally only missing Davids squealing guitar, and Nigels Production just makes this shit sound so crisp and clear. Only thing that gets on my nerves is how much chatter is going on through interludes on the first half. Also the 3rd song is a tad too long, but color me impressed as fuck. Praise Grandpa Waters
