dont mess with promoters, promote your own shit

hang up posters and shit around your town advertising your band until it become notorious and everyone knows about it. If the police start to intervene bc of all the posters good, any publicity is good publicity
>>
>>73121938
I know a place I could probably get away with hanging a fuck ton of posters, so that's no issue.

my 2 biggest conserns are my mad stage fright and elitism when it comes to making stuff. not sure how to combat those
>>

Stage fright is something you get over gradually. try attending like school counsel meetings or town hall gatherings or something. Even being around people while they are publicly speaking can help deter your stage fright even if it is by a negligible amount

also, elitism when making stuff? as in like you're a perfectionist or something?
>>

ill give that a shot

yeah that's the word. Imo im not even a good musician, I just think I have a good feeling for what sounds good. Whenever I made music with anyone I always felt the need to improve it and it got to the point that I left my last "band" because I thought the music was cringeworthy and just bad.

I do this thing where I record hundreds of riffs, beats, verses etc. and I'll just end up scraping them all by the end of the week because I dont like them anymore. Idk what I would even call this habbit but it's really annoying to never be satisfied with what you make
>>
>>73122120
I dont even make music but I know for a fact that I would be doing the same thing.

Maybe you're just making really great stuff but it sounds bad to you because its all you make? idk Have you tried getting input from various people? If so how did that turn out?
>>
>>73122157
I send my friends something whenever I think it isnt trash. They sometimes tell me it's really catchy and that I should try turning it into a whole song, sometimes that it got boring fast, or that it outright sounds like something that already exists.
>>
>>73122220
hmm, do you have anything you could link me to? id love to hear some stuff and possibly give feedback
>>
>>73122279
not really, I dont use soundcloud at all, but what I make usually sounds like some rammstein/the cure crossover if that makes any sense
>>
desu I've been in a band that's been at a standstill for 3 years...really (up until the last 4 months) we haven't done jack shit because we always disagree with eachother, make songs and scrap them etc.

The most valuable thing I've learned from being in a band that long is to be totally transparent and open with your band mates. if you think something sounds like shit or something could be improved, then say it. i only started to do that around winter 2016 and it's starting to catch on with the other guys. of course (for me anyways), this only happened because i used to be incredibly anxious and had no self-confidence or self-esteem but once i pretty much got over that i started to shed my opinions and desu it helps more than it detriments.

Honestly, if you ever join a band again and it goes down the path where the music you're starting to make doesn't sound right or there is disagreement and different visions, literally schedule a jam where, instead of playing, you sit down like it's an AA meeting and you discuss where the band should go, what you like/don't like etc.

trust me, communication is more important than the actual music at the beginning stages. After you've actually written music you and the band enjoy, it all becomes easy.

Rammstein/the cure crossover

It sounds pretty interesting in theory at least lmao. I dont really know what to tell you without hearing anything but keep on practicing and writing creating etc eventually im sure you will come up with something that you enjoy.

Good luck
