What sucks is that it genuinely is my favorite because I didn't have the money for a lot of albums back in the back, so I bought Trendkill on cassette without ever owning Cowboys or Vulgar. So I have a lot of nostalgia for that album.

Do you like Floods too? Suicide note pt 1 is great too, for sure. The rest of the album is far less accessible than Vulgar or Cowboys.

Floods, 10's and Suicide Note Part 1 are all underrated gems. Pantera actually do slower "ballad" type songs really well.

Nah, but it is by far the best Pantera album. Only Far Beyond Driven comes close.
It's actually really weird to think that The Great Southern Trendkill was a major commercial success considering that the only other metal albums that I've heard which outdo it in terms of sheer psychosis are Pig Destroyer's Prowler In The Yard and Katharsis' WorldWithoutEnd. An album that has Seth Putnam on it doing guest vocals does not belong in the Billboard top 5.

I think that the atrocious band relations in Pantera at the time made TGST feel as psychotic and violent as it does desu. It's the sound of a band in the middle of professional and personal self-annihilation.
I imagine that recording his vocals alone in a different part of the country and completely separated from the rest of the band(alongside doing ungodly amounts of heroin) was what gave Anselmo's performance and lyrics that extra impact.

This was the first CD i stole as a kid. This and Soundgarden DownOnTheUpside at the same time from the New Releases rack. Felt like such a badass.... used to only listen to DragTheWaters on repeat lol.
