Yeah people forget that until her 3rd album, her entire schtick was that she was a good ol' country girl in a sundress and cowboy boots with an acoustic guitar -- the alternative to the "typical popstar" (so basically the country-pop version of Avril Lavigne's schtick from 5 years prior). She didn't have the breakup reputation yet because the only song she had written about a famous ex was the one Joe Jonas song on Fearless. When the whole Kanye/Taylor thing happened the narrative was like "how could this asshole take the moment away from someone so innocent and pure and fragile!"
