They have decent value stuff if you're looking for something that's really unusual but don't have the big bucks for custom instruments. Otherwise used gook Gretsches are cheap and great and hard to beat. They're probably the only guitars in their price range with genuinely good pickups.

If you want it, and can afford it then just get it. Especially since you've got one Gretsch already.
Every time I've bought a guitar there was always an alternative that is better on paper in terms of value/quality etc. But it doesn't matter. It just feels good to have something you've wanted.

No need to go for 9, buy an 8 and drop the F# to an E. The scale would make it super floppy for a low C.
Plus it's already hard enough to do large chords using the low register on an 8, can't imagine doing it on a 9.
>>
>>73056167
You pretty much need to have enormous hand and long fingers to play these. I've tried an 8 string and I couldn't chord properly using the extra 2 strings. Mind you, I'm not sure I feel totally comfortable doing bar chords on 6 strings.
>>
b-but I can´t find any decent playing in the internet similar to >>73056048

>>
>>73056245
You need specifically bass and guitar necks? Or any old multi neck rubbish will do?
>>
>>73056198
I can do barre chords with the extra two strings fine (they're fucking useless chords though) and my hands are just a little bigger than the usual, it's just a matter of having proper technique.

>>73056245

>>73057269
What music you play? It comes down to that decision.

Also "sounding better than other"... Ultimately electric guitar sound is based on which kind of pickups the guitar has and the string gauge, nothing else. Someone might say something else but you know, this is the reason why it is called "electric" guitar - it generates an electric signal which is then amplified and processed. You can have a Stratocaster with humbucker pickup and it will sound like BC Rich... etc.

I have Strats and Teles, love them both.

The guitar I play most is one of my Strats, but that's my preference, you need to work out yours.

Play all the guitars you can, and start making your short-list, then go back and play them again until you narrow it down.

If clean is your go, lower output vintage pups will serve you better than hotter, overwound ones.

Is there a reason guitars do so much more than bassists and drummers in most rock bands? Its only in grunge where they all seem to do the same relative work.

I like making songs but i like them simple, whats with guitars overplaying compared to the other instruments?

Thing is it all depends. What bass and drums are doing is that they keep the song going. Without them there wouldn't be a band. Ever played with bad bassist and drummer? It's pretty bad and no single flashy guitarist will save that situation.

>>

There's the Adrenalinn which does similar tempo-based manipulation. If you get into that tempo-sync stuff then you really need to tie all your pedals to one MIDI clock, that's what the Master Control does.

for the amount of time you'd actually use a flanger, you're better off getting one as part of a multi fx unit
>>
>>73060740
I joined a country and western band once by mistake, the steel player looked like Hitler and he played an Emmons. If you've played slide guitar before and you can adapt to different tunings then they're kinda fun to mess around on for a while but those things cost thousands of dollars. Plus that Hawaiian music generally uses a lap steel, not a pedal steel. Lap steels are way cheaper.

Cheaper still is tuning to C6 and using your normal guitar with a shitload of reverb.

For those of you that record do you play other instruments as well?

I've been wanting to record some stuff I've written but I don't know how to play the drums nor do I have the time to try teaching myself (or the money to buy a kit, space to play, neighbors/parents that won't complain about the noise) so the biggest obstacle would be writing drum parts in one of those audio programs. What's a good rec? I don't need super fancy high class stuff because it'll be for myself and my friends if they wanna listen but mainly myself I just want a generic rock drum kit kind of thing.

Cutting to the point - I need to start learning again. I'm embarrassed to say for how many years I've been playing now, and I just stopped progressing somewhere halfway through. I understand very little of music theory, and bad habit of just playing by ear got me into this inescapable corner where I automatically gravitate towards familiar shapes. It's just in finger memory. I've not learned a complete song or even a good chunk in all these years, my fingers just won't listen to me trying to play something not out of my head. Holy shit, this thread should have been full of summertime high school losers today. The only thing /gg/ has left is it's friendless autismo regiment and even they really don't want to post here anymore. It's like watching muddy diarrhea circle the bowl.

I rurnt this ni/gg/a like a boss, son.

I ordered a Silverburst Kiesel Vader after playing someone's and loving the fret access and lightweight. I can't wait.

Should I buy a new Bass or a new amp? I have a practice amp and a used Bass I got at a thrift store.

What difference does it make? You'll still have to wear a helmet when you leave the house.

I'd pocket a lot more if I did, but my family lives in Massachusetts. Fuck that state.

Wait time looks to be 9-10 weeks, which isn't bad. I waited longer for my Dingwall NG2

Depends on how trashy the bass is. Normally I'd say amp first, but go for the bass if the one you have is all busted

Nice I've been thinking of getting one of their holdsworth models

I haven't played one, but I can't get into the headless telecaster-ish body.
