what does /mu/ think of Burzum?
imagine having such a disappointment for a father
oh wait
I don't have to

Good ambient albums, meh black metal albums.
Not relevant.

I think both his ambient and black metal albums are good desu
Maybe it's just because I played so much runescape and games with similar soundtracks back in the day
>>73080118
I wasn't aware enough people were interested in this man for there to be a 'contrarian' opinion.
Is it widely accepted, in fact, that his ambient stuff sucks and his godawful attempts at 'metal' are 'good'?

Among Burzum fans, yes; and it's true.
Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and Filosofem are masterpieces.
His prison albums have their own appeal considering how limited his means for making them were.
Nothing else he has done has caught my interest much. I occasionally check out his Youtube channel, it's pretty comfy and he's a pretty likable guy.
>>73080157
considering he's one of the pillars of second wave bm, yeah

Huh, that's weird.
Maybe it's a metal thing and I just don't get it. Seems like people like certain bands for 'historical value' before musical quality, but that's just my two cents.
Whenever I try listening to his music, this comes to mind.
>>73080542
obviously there's a lot of "historical" value to burzum but his music itself is super influential. he basically invented atmospheric black metal
>>73080543
Try to watch one of his yt videos, that picture will come SCREAMING to your mind

Everything up to Filosofem was incredible, his dark ambient stuff and new albums are ok
Repetitive, thus worthless.
