what these videos don't get is that when djent does that low chugging thing is that it's normally in weird gay polyrhythms. They think it's like a deathcore breakdown. djent is more like animals as leaders

Djent is just a guitar playing method. Different bands approach the sound from different places, it seems. The big three I see are
Progressive metal (more intricate rhythms, experimentation with other sounds)
Groove metal (Less complex, really just groove focused)
Deathcore ("Hey, what if we just made a song out of breakdown sections?")
The groove side also seems to bring in almost a hip-hop crowd sometimes. Look at some videos Volumes has put out and tell me that isn't some wigger bullshit.
It's regressive metal.
