Depends what year it was. When The Sickness came out, that shit was amazing. If someone were to put on Shout 2000 at a party tonight, I would be excited. That said, listening to anything past that, or actively following Disturbed's career in the year of our lord 2017 is embarrassing.

Why did they age so horribly?

I listened to Disturbed frequently until around 2010 and have been listening to deep house since. I really can't take rock, grunge, metal or nu-metal seriously anymore. It sounds sooo bad.

No, this works because of Eminem's ability to weave narratives into dense rhyme schemes and the fact that it never takes itself too seriously.

Down With The Sickness is a legit good song. It's got a solid vocal performance and the angular riff on the hook is killer. Too bad they fucked it up with the 3edgy spoken word segment in the middle, and never made another good song again.
