Is this good?
Nope
no, u fool
>>73044790
it's got a few great songs, but overall nowhere near as good as their first 3 albums
no, dude
YOU MUST HAVE BEEN HIIIGGHH
>>73044852
that song is nu metal and bad
>>73044890
Don't lie you love it
>>73044916
if I liked nu metal I probably would
>>73044939
You love it and you know you love it
>>73044939
>he doesn't like nu metal
why do you hate fun?
Isn't the fact that it's a Tool record already tell you that it sucks?
I really enjoy this album. Give it a listen if you haven't already.
>>73044790
Yes. If Lateralus is 10/10,
Vicarious - 8/10, some of their best lyrics, overrated musically.
Jambi - 9/10, Adam Jones owns this track, one of the best riffs ever.
Wings/10000 Days - 5/10 By far their most overrated songs, I get they're emotional for Maynard or whatever but they're such boring new age shit. Skip 'em almost everytime unless I'm high/tired.
The Pot - 7/10 Annoying at first but it grew on me a lot in repeated listenings.
Lipan - Filler
Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned - 10/10 Tool at its best, working as a perfect unit. Best lyrics and concept of any of their songs, music loses only to Third Eye, Lateralus and the Triad songs imo
Intension - Filler
Right In Two - 9/10, sick ass buildup and again, ridiculously awesome lyrics from Maynard, dude was on point except for Wings/10000
Virginiti Tres - End of album filler, a little cooler sounding than Faaip de Oaid
Lateralus > Aenima > 10000 > Undertow > Opiate
It's fucking great
Despite losing the flow towards the end, it has some of their best songs (Vicarious, Wings pt. 2, Rosetta Stoned).
>>73045417
I think Intension is really great. I feel like i can just close my eyes and lose myself in that track. It's kinda meditative.
>>73044790
>Drop D, the band
>>73044790
That fucking shit is so pretensious. I have to admit it's a great effort from the band regarding instrumental interpretation. But the whole album is skippable at all.
Final score: 2/10
i like tools music, but maynard and his shit lyrics are awful and ruin everything
>>73045417
>Intension - Filler
That bassline though
>>73044852
YOU MUST HAVE BEEN SO, HIIIIGGHH
>>73044790
3 songs of it. So no.
Anyone else feel like the mid section of Aenima(Jimmy, Hooker with a Penis, Pushit) is mediocre Undertow leftovers?
>>73046526
Well Undertow was great so...yes?
>>73046526
>Pushit is a mediocre Undertow leftover
That was one of the worst opinions I've heard in a while
>>73046581
It honestly has to be the most overrated Tool song ever.
At almost 10 minutes manages to me completely predictable and having zero of the good Tool hooks, grooves or riffs
delete Lipan Conjuring and Viginti Tres and it's flawless
>>73046526
Jimmy and Pushit are the only good songs on Aenima, barring Third Eye.
>>73046663
That mid-section is absolutely god-tier
Have you listen to the live version on Salival?
I haven't listened to it but it's probably a 7/10
it doesn't flow as good as Ænima and lateralus but it definitely has the best songs
The Pot is a great song. Vicarious is better and Jambi is probably their best song so yea 10000 days is good. Don't listen to the negativity
>>73044790
worst Tool album
>>73044790
yes its amazing.
but there is alot of filler. there is really on 30 minutes of real music on there. the rest is filler
but who cares if there's filler, if they had removed it, it would just be shorter record, its nice to have the other stuff.
i love the DMT song, the pot, and the 2nd track
the album is amazing really. much better than the over rated lateralus
>>73044841
>as good as their first 3 albums
hmm
opiate, undertow and aenima ?
>>73045417
>Vicarious
>good lyrics
>"omg people are entertained by violence wtf am I the only one who noticed this?"
>Right In Two
>good lyrics
>"wtf people are weird amirite just luv each other and share everything"
>>73046526
some of the only Tool songs I like
>>73050038
Opiate is an EP, not an album.
is there a band that sounds just like Tool but isn't ruined by the vocalist?
>>73050511
A Perfect Circle

>>73044831

YOU MUST OF BEEN
SOOOOO
HIIIIGHHHHHH
Better listen to Lateralus!!! Best Tool album :)
>>73050511
on a similar note:
is there a band that sounds like Tool but doesn't take 50 years to release a new album?
>>73045417
Intension is not a filler but actually one of their more interesting tracks.
The lyrics on the album is edgy af and not as sopistichated as fans like to think.
Other than that you're torally right.
>liking tool
The fans are pleb filter. Tool is patrician. What a great fucking band
>>73050511
Puscifer
>>73044790
10000 days has Rosetta Stoned on it, so yes.
>>73054449
they're good in the realm of guilty pleasure bands
lol i Love Tool, but some of the fans are a mess. Here's a comment i found on the Salival live album.
>"This album vibrates each and every individual atom of my body, threatening to rip them asunder with explosive force, only to rejoin the cosmos again. This must be what nirvana feels like, a state of pure bliss , this is enlightenment, ascension, instant evolution, DMT flooding your brain as the world around you dissolves, heaven and Valhalla for the brave battle dead."
i think tool is like what would happen if Swans made a joke album
>>73044790
Intension is boring filler along with all the interlude tracks
But everything else is pretty good
Rosetta Stoned is kinda cringe though
>>73054886
To be fair, that would still be much better than most other music.

There used to be several bands with the Tool sound but most of the are broken up by now or have moved on.
You can listen to Rishloo's debut, The Butterfly Effect, Soen, Cire, Prisma, Sydonia
>>73054071
Katatonia, a little bit.
I don't like Tool as a whole. But the first half of 10000 days is some of the best progressive metal out there.
>>73045417
Intention is the best track you pleb
Does progressive metal really exist?
>>73056669
yes?
>>73056669
Mastodon?
>>73054886
I never get the Swans comparison. If I had to compare Tool to a "classic" band, I'd say Red era King Crimson.
>>73054831
All hardcore fans say shit like this about their favorite band.
>>73054071
Steven Wilson. Proggy music with edgy lyrics. And he makes a new album every two years.

Do you hate music?

Try Soen. It's literally Tool 2.0 but still releases albums.
>>73054886

They are already past that :^)
