Listening to Blonde on Blonde on acid was one of the most joyous, cerebral music experiences of my life and I assure you there is no better combination. When Dylan recorded Blonde on Blonde he was well aware that many of his audience would be listening to it under the influence of psychedelics, and it's plainly obvious acid played a role in many of the songs (Stuck Inside of Mobile and Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat especially). Don't get me wrong, Highway 61 and Bringing it All Back Home were also great on acid, but Blonde on Blonde just tops it for me. I also think he had a good little laugh to himself knowing full well he could give some people not understanding the songs appallingly bad trips, namely the Mr Joneses of this world.

Beatles on acid is pleasant but not mind enriching - this can be said for most the music I listened to. The closest anything came to Dylan's standards was Rock Bottom by Robert Wyatt, that too is superb when tripping but likewise a strong mind is essential. Luckily I am not easily fazed!

Yes friend the last time I tripped I listened to all of B on B and it was the best shit I've heard while tripping. Most of his stuff is great I know. What I was saying is that the "Dude weed" meme is about things that are overtly about weed, ie Seth Rogan. I don't think Blonde on Blonde screams that its a really a psychedelic album. I didn't realize how perfect it was for it until I actually heard it while you know

I think partly what makes it so great is that it's not plainly obvious it's an acid album and obviously acid isn't essential to its enjoyment, in fact it's a drug you probably shouldn't take more than once or twice a year, so you really feel like you've discovered this brilliant secret when you listen to it. I am just glad I had the good fortune to have recently become obsessed in Dylan and chosen that album by chance, otherwise I would have wasted the whole trip listening to Pink Floyd and The Orb with no idea what I was missing.

Blood on the Tracks was also great on acid, but that one is more personal for me as I had just broken up with my partner of four years and was already listening to that album on repeat before my first and only acid trip. It helped me rid myself of resentment to a great extent, I listened to it twice that night and If You See Her Say Hello probably about ten times (that mandolin ending, my God...). Buckets of moon beams. Just wonderful.

If you see her say hello is one of my favorites and I relate to it more than most of his songs. The last trip I had was half a year ago and it was the first time I had done it in 2 years (my stash got lost in shipping...). But yea he's by far the best musician to listen to while tripping. I did it with a friend and I remember after Like a rolling stone had ended I said to her "Rolling stone was right, that is the best song ever."
It's a shame lsd gets such a bad rep and nobody wants to try it

I've never refused it, that was the first time I had encountered it in my twelve years of occasional drug use. The friend I was staying with is a very occasional acid user and by good fortune had four tabs he'd had since December and was waiting for the right time, I agreed immediately as I had taken mushrooms before and knew I was in for some top class escapism at the least. He gave me three tabs and I was on another planet for the next twelve hours, it was genuinely a marvellous experience. We too belted out Like a Rolling Stone which was fucking great fun, but he went to bed earlyish and I spent the rest of the night listening mainly to Dylan on my own, grinning like a Cheshire cat as I watched the carpet appear to breathe then later a beautiful sunrise from his garden. I can recall few times I have felt so content.

Dylan was right when he referred to it as medicine, not everyone needs it but if you are feeling sick and twisted and bent on revenge then acid is a potent tonic.

Also aye, completely with you in If You See Her Say Hello, the vulnerability displayed in that song is so uncharacteristic of Dylan but he does it so beautifully, maturely and sincerely. It's a coin toss between that and Lay Lady Lay for my favourite song (of any artist).
