there hasn't been a better album in the year+ since it was released. I'd say it's the ONLY 9/10 album in recent memory. Good try though, OP.
I actually really like this album, but a perfect 10 is an insanely ridiculous score. Its an above average post hardcore album, probably a 7.5-8/10 at best
>>73043800
No one's gonna fall for this anon

I love Sun Kil Moon, but I havent had a chance to listen to this. Is it really that good?
kek'd desu
This might very well be the worst review of all time.
I don't understand how this scored higher than Acid Rap
>>73044059
that score almost ruined his life
>>73043948
How is that bait? I admitted its a really good album, i just dont believe its a PERFECT 10 OUT OF 10.
>>73044056
it's fantastic, AOTY
>>73044056
its the definition of a grower, you will hate like 40% of it first listen, but the second listen, at least for me, it grew hard. Its extremely experimental yet has a solid amount of beautiful/folkier songs like God Bless Ohio, Butch Lullaby (some sections), Stranger Than Paradise, Early June Blues, and I Love Portugal. It has amazing, sometimes funky drums too and for 2 hours it feels insanely short. Its a massive improvement over Universal Themes and blows J/SKM out of the water
>>73044162
how did you get Source Tags & Codes from The Life of Pablo cover art?

>>73043800
i think he posted it cause the rating was too low
>>73045356
literally nothing wrong with these ratings
>The awkwardly chipper music in “Bastille Day” creates an effect not dissimilar to Smash Mouth playing the intro to “All Star” on loop while their singer threatens the audience.
holy kek
>>73045483
uhh, Emotion is rated way too low. Should be high 8 at least
>>73043764
Drukqs, 5.5.
Bonnie Prince Billy, I see a Darkness, 10.0.
Albums that I have bought /because/ they earned a perfect 10.0 on Pitchfork include the above, Loveless, Sketches of Spain, and one or two others. I never listen to the above Bonnie Prince Billy album anymore.
I seem to remember that they've given some really shitty, unwarranted scores to Basement Jaxx and/or Squarepusher on certain releases.
To the site's credit, I also remember a time when they re-reviewed/revised their estimation of Music Has The Right To Children, up from 8.3 or such, to a correct perfect 10.0. This is the one album that apotheosized BoC's sound and spawned so many contemporary imitators, including BMSR, to a point.
>>73045575
you should know that there's a difference between bad scores and scores you disagree with
At least 6
Should've been lower than St. Anger senpai
>>73045608
This sophistry cuts one of two ways, and either way, you're wrong.
On the one hand, we honestly and soberly remember that musical taste and appreciation are totally subjective, in which case your differentiation between the two categories vanishes as meaningless and the OP's question is totally spurious. Yet here you are giving what sounds like your own opinion, or something like it, which leads to the alternative.
On the other hand, we reject the above view and assert that it is possible to meaningfully rank the quality of various musical albums in some way, maybe a weighted blend of personal appreciation, sales, critical acclaim, cultural importance etc. And no matter what way you care to slice it, since it's now possible to speak of other reviews as being "bad/bogus" (the rhetorical intent of the OP), it becomes clear that Drukqs was underrated by pitchfork, while the BPB album was hugely overrated. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world:
1) I personally like Drukqs much better than the BPB album (this is of course the most important weight-item; there will never be a more important one, but it's not the only one)
2) I am better than you (having better taste, a better life and so on)
3) So by 1) and 2) my opinion of DrukQs versus the other album is more important than the aggregate critical scores which peg the other album overall higher per wiki, much less your personal opinion, and finally as a supporting argument
4) General Cultural Importance. DrukQs is culturally a more important album than the other. Anyone can make sad bastard singer-songwriter stuff and have the critics jagoff to it if he does it just right. Although hindsight is 20/20, DrukQs remains a rather novel album whose meme has been repeated rather more loudly than the other.
See how easy that was?

7/10 made me kek
This was just crazy to me. They give all the other classics like Illmatic, 36 Chambers, Ready to Die, Liquid Swords, Infamous, 10/10, and yet they don't include Reasonable Doubt in that group? Reasonable Doubt is absolutely in that same tier of hip hop premium classics; in most rankings it's often ranked second to Illmatic as greatest of all time. It almost feels like they don't like Jay-Z's current persona as super rich man and thus he's not as "real" as the others, but I was blown away when they didn't give this a 10. Some of the best rapping ever on record
>>73045591
I'm really surprised they haven't gone back and given it a 10 yet. Wouldn't be surprised if they do so soon on a "retro" review tho.
>>73044110
agreed, colouring book was mediocre, havent listened to it more than once
acid rap will be remembered as one of the greatest albums of the 2010s though
>>73044047
This
Literally only because Humanz features so many black artists. Demon Days is a far more well-crafted, nuanced, varied, and influential album than Humanz ever will be.
