It was pretty bland overall.

The whole concept was that "Chris Gaines" was going to come out of nowhere with a #1 single, get cast in this giant movie, and when it was all said and done Garth Brooks would pull off the wig and soul patch and reveal that it was him the entire time. Garth was totally on board, as his career had taken a serious hit when he supposedly cheated on his long time wife with (then) up and coming Trisha Yearwood.

Only problem is there wasn't much faith in either the album or movie, so with the album already finished they just released it hoping to cut their losses and scrapped the movie.

But the album gave like two Billboard top 10 hits, and no one knew anything about it. Instead of just admitting that it was Garth Brooks though, the record company strung him along saying if he sold the act convincingly enough they could get the movie back in production, but it lasted all of like two concerts before everyone figured out it was Garth Brooks and basically destroyed his career for good.
