Have never understood why Beach House gets the hype and not some other band. There are so many other acts who do this better. They're fine, it's just nothing spectacular.

Never understood the comparison really. Yes both make dream pop but they're worlds apart compositionally. CT made ethereal music based off of gorgeous walls of sound (not to mention the goth influence) while BH feels like they're dream-ifying 60s pop both in singing style and arrangement style. Liz sings in an unintelligible pseudo-operatic style while Victoria sings in a plainer fashion with every word deliberate and enunciated.
A better comparison would be Parker & Lily, and to a lesser extent Mazzy Star, but BH moved past replicating that style in Teen Dream.
