we always have threads on progressive rock
why don't we get a list of our favorite regressive rock albums? rock albums that are the plague of the genre
>Cage the Elephant
What's that one band from San Francisco? They have at least one woman and all the guys look insanely unlikable. Say they hate feminism and what now, yet post the same shitty rhetoric on their Twitter. That band belongs here.

Fuck off Melophobia was at least a solid 7/10.
Also every semi-well known rock album is regressive. Once an album, even progressive albums, get big everyone apes their style and fucks it up.

I don't think Free Hand should even be called a progressive rock album. This is their blatant and ultimately failed attempt at pop.

The only half decent song on that album.

This
Now don't get me wrong, I like the band and their music but honestly, I've generally been pretty suspect of Anathema's status as a prog rock band. Oh sure, they occasionally throw out an odd time signature groove here and there and they've at least walked the walk for some 5 or 6 albums now. But their compositions have always struck me as a bit rigid and linear for such a designation. A few of their songs like Re-Connect, Everything or the title track off their upcoming album feel adequate but overall I dunno, they just seem a bit basic to run with the prog moniker. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

Christgau?

Nah. Is that how he feels about them, though?

I don't want to know really. I haven't listened to them, so, someone else could chime in.
