"Noise" would not be a genre/sub-genre if it wasn't for Hendrix.
Electric Ladyland is an album which gets better with each listen. It's a hard blues / noise album featuring Hendrix at his absolute best in terms of guitar playing and song writing. It's a damn shame he had to die so young.

Lots of other people had used noise before Hendrix did
>>73000498
People did it before Hendrix; but Hendrix is primarily responsible for its spread and rise in popularity, without a doubt.
Back in the late 60's, such a sound was unheard of in the mainstream.

Yes but why assume noise (a very small underground genre) was influenced by the mainstream rather than the other more underground musicians that used noise to a greater extent?
1983/Moon turn the tides is the best thing Hendrix ever recorded. There's actual fucking magic in there, Foxy Lady and Purple Haze are generic rock songs anyone else could have written.

Those aren't on Electric Ladyland.
What do you think of Crosstown Traffic and Long Hot Summer Night?

I mean I love every single song by Hendrix, and especially those from Electric Ladyland. But to me what sets this album apart is the second half, when Burning of the Midnight Lamp begins to play and it sets the mood for the dreamy jams that come then. Rainy Day and it's continuation, All along the Watchtower, and 1983/Moon turn the tides which is like a fantasy landscape where guitars and feedback flow like waves.

Hendrix is overrated as an icon but the vast majority of his actual music is very underrated
Electric Ladyland is a masterpiece but Hendrix had little effect on the rise of noise lol. Where else does he even use it aside from the opening track? (No a distorted guitar doesn't count.)

This. Most normies will praise him without ever having actually listened to the catalogue, which is amazing.

>primarily responsible for its spread and rise in popularity
I seriously couldn't give less of a fuck about this.
>>73000476
>Electric Ladyland is criminally underrated
i dont see how this is possibly true
>>73002136
couldn't agree more. plenty of normies go "DUDE, HENDRIX, WEED, TIE DYE SHIRTS, STAR SPANGLED BANNER, ELL EM AYY OHHH" without ever sitting down and listening to any of his albums, especially Electric Ladyland.
when i took acid for the first time, my friend played electric ladyland on vinyl. it was fucking surreal is all i can say.

This times a million
I don't think there's a single artist more overrated and paradoxically less understood
It's like his status as a rock icon has overshadowed his actual genius

Sounds amazing. The first time I took acid I listened to Pharoah Sanders.
spiritual black people are great on acid.
