i mean, i have a respect for online ettiquette. i really do.
trust me, if i knew of more free stuff, that i enjoyed, i'd be sharing it, in hopes of exposing new people to something i enjoy. but i'm also trying to acquire some of these other artists' work by requesting what i cannot find elsewhere. and i think sharing a file here and allowing people that acquisition, can really expand and influence a fanbase, which can only benefit the artists really- when people then want to collect the works on cassette and other forms of media, and their past and future works become that much more in demand.
but no, don't get me wrong. i do agree with you also. i mean, paying for an album through bandcamp can really help out an artist, and if i could do that- yeah i would. trust me i have nothing but respect for the artists.

and i know there are artists out there, that don't really care how many fans they have, but would like it if the people that do like their music had the courtesy to respect their work by buying it or paying what they can afford. but i'm at a place in life, where music appreciation mainly consists of downloading what is available for free, and building my collection that way. and link sharing really helps me gain something that i couldn't afford but have really admired.

disagree with me if you want, but i feel a close connection to the artists, their work, and their fanbase, and I don't want to be made to feel guilty for requesting something that could be shared by likeminded admirerers out of a common generosity and a mutual appreciation. that's something that i love about the connection between fanbases, the artists, and the communities that appreciate the work.
