Why is this album considered by some to be a classic record? I absolutely love the first 3 songs, there's like a weird fucking mood to the whole thing but what do ya'll think about it?
Does Laughing Stock sound dated at all???
because people think it pioneered a genre called "post rock", a genre loved by fuckboys

does post rock even matter anymore?

The music fits the theme and lyrics very well. I feel very uneasy listening to this occasionally. I wish more post rock tried to copy this instead on LYSF even though I enjoy both.
Honestly i always enjoyed this album way more

i gotta listen to SOE more, its just so fucking slow sometimes
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE explain what the connection between Talk Talk and birds or moths is??

Aesthetic consistency

Nice shared dubs we got. So....why birds and moths to begin with?
>>72978695
Dunno they probably just liked them or something

Fantastic record, doesn't sound dated to me. Part of it's status as a classic is the fact that it pioneered post-rock (although I would argue that some of the first post-rock bands in fact emerged out of the krautrock scene i.e. Can & Neu!). Just keep listening to it and it will grow on you. Laughing Stock and Spirit of Eden did not instantly click with me but I like them more each time I revisit them. I really like their synthpop stuff too, but I like synthpop in general. Going to listen to some Talk Talk now because of your thread. :)

Yeah this one is better though. "I Believe In You" is so fucking good.

A lot of generic post-rock is bad (this is true of any genre). There are plenty of good bands that happen to be post-rock bands, though.

It's kind of sad how much their first couple albums aren't talked about because they have the same harmonic elements and over all mood of LS and SoE but they're kinda lively synth pop.
Favorite early Talk Talk song?

Such A Shame for me. Kind of an obvious pick, I know. How about you?

Tomorrow Started. It's My Life is such a good album.
Best album ever made. The way it's recorded makes it absolutely timeless in my opinion.

It's a masterpiece desu
Love the chamber-kraut-jazz style of this album and especially the religious atmosphere surrounding it
