>>72977566
Honestly?
Lol of course. Do you like Mineral?
>>72977962
if you like those check out the noobz0r and jommeez channel on youtube or peep my trntbl trntbl.me/jommeez
>>72978025
jommeez!! I didn't know you were on /mu/! Thanks for all the uploads on yt through the years! Im a friend of Tom of OSA, he actually mentioned in the past how thankful he was that you uploaded his eps so early in thier career, it really helped garner alot exposure!
>>72978111
lmao nice trips and i'm glad i could help which is the reason i made the channel in 1st place. i actually havent even visited /mu/ in possibly 8 years or maybe a little less, honestly i don't go here much but i know some people from /mu/ but i've just tried to stay away so it doesn't influence my opinions on music if that makes any sense. but tonight im drunk and decided to hit up you homies cuz i know there are cool people on here. also, do you mean OSA as in our sunday affairs? I was fucking amazed when they released some stuff because they were young as fuck, like 15 or something!?!? yet it was great.
>>72977629
Prove you're jommeez or frig off
>>72978221
look at the description of this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XvQzyt0LQ0
>>72978253
oh shi....
>>72978178
Aha I know what you mean I usually only go on /mu/ when I'm gettin high. Yessir Our Sunday Affairs, one of the great unsung heroes of the twinkle era. Yea no they cranked out the first EP when Tom and Jake were 15, Tom actually played all the instruments on it too. I met them through a mutual friend in mid 2011 and we were friends till after they broke up in early 2014. Probably Bonjour Machines was the only other band as talented at the same age as OSA. I met so many rad people through my years in the scene and I'm glad I was finally able to meet you mah dude aha
>>72978266

Stay Home is the greatest song of all time.
>>72978288
that's amazing, and man, i'm so glad i could actually help get the word out in what ways i could. i know that shit is hard, which is why i'll keep up the channel til i die since it seems to help bands gain exposure more effectively as time progresses. although, i always think the bands deserve more, especially OSA. sucks they broke up but it happens. do you know if they're doing anything musically now? I haven't been able to keep up with everything for the past few years lol
>>72978360

>>72978457
Damn skippy. I'll check out EndSerenading.
>>72978379
You're a legend in the upload world don't ever feel like you aren't appreciated aha yea it's important desu since alot of the original bandcamps/wordpresses are long dead. I always thought they deserved more too, all biases aside, since Cave was one of the more ambitious albums in the post-BLA world but everything plays out for a reason, they were a high school band for all intents and purposes and had all just graduated and had to go their separate ways. As for whats going on now, I'm not sure about Donald and Ryan, but Jake the singer is in a dreamy shoegaze band now (idk if they released anything but they're called Floam) and Tom the guitarist is working on a solo project and plays drums in a few local metal bands.
As for not being able to keep up, that's honestly why I quit the scene in early 2014, the hypocrisy, and the death of a few bands I were close to made it not worth my time to stick around. The scene crumbled in North Jersey and so I decided to move on, rip
>>72978491
thanks for the info and i feel u, i watched snowing, algernon cadwallader, tigers jaw (lol they got back together tho instantly), etc etc etc break up and it sucks but well fuck, still love the muzic
>>72978469
>youtube emo
you're why the channel lives, although much more slowly now that i'm not in my teens/early twenties anymore. well i'm 24, this year i'll be half way to 50
also i have an american football tattoo
i guess if this thread will die i might as well say the top bands that got me into emo were american football, merchant ships, midwest pen pals (basically merchant ships with a different drummer), snowing, algernon cadwallader, bla, lol i guess i'll stop now cuz i could keep going
>>72977606
not emo
>>72978631
some of brand new's songs are pretty emo, especially seventy times 7, but also the ones on that album
Ya i love emo. Was just listening to this, its really fuckin good. Pretty heavy post-hardocore emo featuring algernon cadwallader's second drummer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4JEyLZhbmM
>>72978660
Ape Up! was the shit, and then they came out with that album out of nowhere after years of nothing. CYLS is an amazing label.

>>72978674
Yeah i noticed their other record came out three years earlier.
Btw do you know what is up with the other members of ac? Have they been involved with any other good stuff since ac broke up?

It’s all in my head.
The earth quakes, floor boards will give way.
Uncovering misconceptions at the level of
everything I care about, everything I’ve ever loved.
When the blood runs thick,
be a tourniquet.
You couldn’t stop it if you wanted to.
It’s all in my head.
The walls move in unnatural ways.
I found myself in a darker place.
Afraid of change but more afraid to stay the same.
These days it’s hard not to feel alone.
There is a dull glow coming through your window.
Why does the room still spin
at the very mention of your name?
Why do the walls close in
every time I see your face?

This is one of the albums that got me into music. Math Rock opened a lot of doors for me. That being said, it sucks. Everything overstays it's welcome and the "math riffs" are shitty and nauseating. It's heavy dependence on pathos isn't great either if you want to be extra critical.
>>72979736
fuck off megatard
>>72979762
I'm sharing my opinion. If you want me to actually contribute pic related is fucking kino, but I'm sure you already knew that.

>>72979457
the classic "secondary emo on RYM is not trve emo" meme. modest mouse's first two albums, pinkerton, joyce manor's who discography, some bright eyes albums, perfect from now on, probably others i can't think of right now.
>>72979736
Are you seriously fucking criticizing pathos in an EMO thread man
>>72978708
fantastic album desu
Never really see this one mentioned and I think that it's a great piece of work.
>>72980192
Yeah. It can be done right and it can be done wrong.
>>72979365
Kind of, if you ask me.
Anyone like Turnover? I live in VA and an acquaintances sister dates the lead singer. I've burned through their discog so many times, long live skinny disenchanted white dudes
>>72977566
What's considered emo? Emo seems to be an umbrella term that stuff from multiple genres can call into. Like American Football is considered universally to be emo but it's just math rock, does that mean the lyrics decides whether it's emo or not? I ask this because there's plenty of other emo stuff that sounds nothing like American Football. I apologize if I'm retarded.
>>72981159
To add to this, this is probably my favorite track https://youtu.be/Z7kaLkgdSMY "know this son, the sad truth of life, is that everyone leaves, and everything dies. There is no exception, to the passing of time, until the last leaf will fall, and light will fade from your eyes" my pops was always the same way just blunt as fuck, always trying to toughen me up. It's been years since he died but I still think about it
>>72977566
Not a big fan of most emo but i love American Football

>>72978628
all of those are top 10 emo bands, good shit
another one that got me into emo was Grown Ups, still somehow underrated
>>72983565
I guess I'd call it post-punk, which is at least adjacent to emo (which is just post-hardcore, with hardcore being closely related to punk).
It has a fun attitude that I enjoyed though.

Emo from Argentina
Do you remember me?
Follow KM Music on YouTube. They post great emo bands all the time, I've found many cool bands from there.
>>72987346
The drumming on one of the earlier songs (I think School Bus) fucking rapes my ears, and not in a good way. Would be a good album if it didn't sound like it was recorded on a potato
Nope.

i love you

Their profile picture used to be my desktop background several years ago. Brings back memories somehow.
>tfw you can't sing along to your favourite emo songs well enough because you don't have that perfect whiny midwest white boy voice
>>72981202
"Emo" means "emotion". In the context of the bands that make emo it's basically just whining about your relationships and first-world emotional struggles.
Some of it's corny (like really corny) yeah, but the idea is kind of that it's interesting because you're taking something that would seem whiny and shallow and making something interesting with it. Songs that work completely under the paradigm of emotional politicking.
What would you do if you had a small Mike Kinsella clone?
