Mothership troopers edition
I'll post albums and 12"s/7"s, do so yourself so we can all get back home with new items on our wishlists !
optional questions :
a) what are you listening to right know ?
b) what are you favorite albums/12"s/7"s released so far this year, and what releases are waiting for
c) what shows did you get to recently or are planning to go ?
Elayne Coleman & Andrew Kitchen - Attack of the boogie / Instrumental :

Mantus - Midnight energy
http://www3.zippyshare.com/v/1gNvJBx7/file.html
Mantus was a pretty successful NYC band from the end of the 70s. This first LP is basically a compilation of some of their maxis. one could regret that some great tracks (like "Turn around boogie down") are not on it, despite the album short length, though, but it makes up for it by forcing you to hunt maxis

Fast forward - Water bed :

Whitefield Brothers - In the Raw
>deep funk, instrumental

Slick - Slick.

This is the first album by this band under its name, but you heard them before for it is in fact the backing band of Fat Larry's band ! and they do very well without him (even if, I believe, Sexy cream was banned from UK radios for whatever reason)

The chance - I wanna freak / Instrumental :

General Caine - Get down attack
http://www100.zippyshare.com/v/uiBkc0xh/file.html
one of the best non Parliament/Funkadelic affiliated P funk projects, General Caine made several not to be forgotten albums before moving to Motown and renaming themseles General Kane

All points bulletin band - We got a groove (to make you move) :
https://youtu.be/iLE0C0ET6cE
The gap band - The gap band
http://www115.zippyshare.com/v/oUvdZtYG/file.html
I don't know why but for some reason the first Gap band album and this one are pretty often ignored. maybe thats's because of their dumb idea of naming them "Gap band 1", "Gap band 2" and so on after they went on the Mercury label and successful, but whatever strong Sly and the family stone influence for this recommended 1977 output
King Errisson - The magic band
http://www100.zippyshare.com/v/GXDKsgoq/file.html
from carribean otigine, King Errisson released in 1976 on Westbound this hard funkin yet also fresh album due to the steel drums appearances

Index - Starlight / Starlight (the break) :

Johnnie Taylor - Rated extraordinaire
http://www84.zippyshare.com/v/hO9LH9DP/file.html
top notch groovy soul from 1977 with very strong backing (Horny horns, Frank Wess, Gary Shider, Garry Mudbone to name a few)

good thread thanks

you're welcome !
Norman Connors - Mr. C.
http://www66.zippyshare.com/v/bedcaHE4/file.html
Norman Connors was initially a jazz-funk drummer but he always caught the hype of the time so it's no surprise to find him in a boogie (sometimes almost P !) setting on this 1981 album, although the smashing title track reminds everyone where he comes from

I haven't seen it too but since some comments say it is on netflix it should be possible to find it somewhere
otherwise I only have A nickle and a nail is on here and also an ace of spades by him but since it's a soul monument I may as well get some will and take a listen to his other albums. thanks for reminding me !
F.A.T. - Funky and tough
http://www105.zippyshare.com/v/qSTJTlVq/file.html
Fats was a larger than life drummer, he played with everyone and died on may 11 so RIP you funky lardo. Anyway, here is probably his masterpiece, since there's just nothing to throw away from this mind mashing collection of deep fried funk nuggets

Van Jones - Finger lickin' good :

Peggy Dodson - Please don't break the groove :

Kiddo - Kiddo

https://youtu.be/NM5v8hAt0vQ
