Guitar fag for 20 years here just found your site. Heres osme tips for you absolute normies (i can tell who you are) understanding these will translate indirectly to guitar gainz

>File your picks
>Setup your own gear

>Learn anatomy, at least your hands
>Do full body excercise and streches
>Fucking learn to breath regular while you play
>Clean your fretboard every string change you disgusting fucks

most importantly

>Learn how to shit out a solid 60 seconds of music, COLD. Cause on a good day, everyone can play, but it matters what you can do on a bad day, too. Raise your lowest bar.

no such thing as perfect...though id imagine it'd have to be some kind of dynamic addition that adjusts while your playing, cause your play style changes drastically even from song to song...and if you bother working on your techinique, it will change every month guaranteed (if you practice right). You can play any kind of reasonable setup as long as you approach it right. And if you dont want to approch it right, think about how you would WANT to approach it, and figure out how to make your guitar work for your desired technique.

the tools required really depends on the guitar. understand resonance, and how sound moves in 3d space because playing for an audience is hella hard when only half of them can hear you...and if youre electric, research a bit about how circuitry works, (especially operation amplifiers)

Catch me? the tools you need to setup depend on your setup

The guitar is the smallest part, really...all you need to adjust is the action = truss/nut/bridge/"is my neck warped?" "are my frets worn out?" What does all that take (other than the refret) maybe a screwdriver, hex, and a rag? Maybe pliers and scissors for odd nuts and strings. And two separate rags for wet/dry or clean/dirty. Clothes pins are great for sheetmusic but you kids probably use ipads now.

If you focus your knowledge on a few key areas: Wave physics, Electricity, Established performing arts, then you will succeed in nearly all situations. The internet makes that easier than ever to learn.
>>
>>72923586
Thanks for confirming your understanding of English is primary school level. Get a GED already you fuck

dont sand your frets unless you know why the fuck youre sanding (trying to get out a rough spot) and always use very fine grit, like 2000 grit or more for frets. otherwise youll create more rough spots

advice on what? Guitars, effects pedals, amps? Plenty of forums dedicated to that without the inane hostility of /mu/. I come here from time to time and always wonder why. Rarely post, but upon watching others it's ludicrous.

Good semi-acoustic under 500
>wew poorfag get a job, fuckin' bum

Suggestions for semi-acoustic in 2000~ price range
>wew lad way to overspend idiot

What Boss pedals are good
>look at the summer, implying boss are anything but trash

What boutique pedals do You recommend?
>Way to overpay for a transistor

Any good pedals in the yoyo lineup?
>Get a job ya cuck

Why do people even come here for advice? Everyone who's being cunty, do you feel accomplished after comparing cocks on an anonymous online forum? I fail to understand

Some have pretty rough neck edges aka not rolled of, so they feel like a 2x4, but once you get used to it it's glorious. Also, love the clean sound on these, don't know if it's just me or not but there's something very woody and open about it.

All i'm saying is don't be afraid of this. Doing Your own guitar setup is very easy, learn it once and you've got it for the rest of your life, no overpriced truss-rod adjustments or floating bridge setups, all adjustable by your's truly. Just go slow and be careful, it's really hard to screw it up. I'd also advice to learn basic soldering. You don't even need to know exactly what component does what, as long as You are able to solder, google it up and try it out. At least for making guitar/mic cables it saves a fortune.

Marshall DSL 40C

Bass: 9 o' clock
Mids: 2 o' clock
Treble: 3 o' clock
Presence: 2 o' clock
Resonance: 10 o' clock

The DSL is kind of a misleading amp. Before the 70/80 breaks in it seems like an icepick machine, but once you let it break in a bit the low end the DSL pumps out is deeper than the Mariana Trench. It can be hard to control with humbuckers.
>>
>>72931975

>>72932213
It depends on the tone you want. I used to have the RAH, it's a great pedal. It gives you a very clean distortion. But it's a very loud pedal. To get the same level of dirt Page was getting you have to crank the shit out of the volume knob on the pedal. I don't know how they do it but it's literally like having an extra amp. I used the DLS for a bit too before I bought my Marshall and found the same result.

hello everyone, please excuse my ignorance but I need help with amp modeling software. Basically have no clue how to get started.

What is the hardware needed in order to play using my computer and Guitar Rig 5 as the amp?
I read about USB audio interface such as Focusrite but I'm not sure if I need anything else in order for my pc to recognize my guitar with no issues.
Also I was thinking of using a control pedal in order to switch between amp presets but I don't know how that fits into the configuration or if it's supported.

Anyone have any experience with this and can help please?

An interface like a focusrite is all you need to use Guitar Rig. Get the 2i4 since it also has midi in/outputs

The control pedal would have to be a midi controller so you need to buy a pedal (and an interface) that has midi capabilities.

Got given a Legacy Thunderbird with EMG Select passive pick ups. I've noticed the G string is quiet as shit no matter how I position the pick ups, tune the strings, or set my levels.
Is it possible it's just a faulty connection or are the pick ups just bad in general?
If the best option is new pick ups what would you recommend? Must be passive and preferably relatively cheap.

Try new strings first, you bassfags are notorious for neglecting to maintain your gear... Or practice.

They're emgs, they're designed for people that only use the lowest string. The part of the pickup under the gstring is probably filled with sand.

It's got brand new strings on it and I set it up properly as there was a lot of fret buzz and the intonation was way out.
The g string was quiet as hell before and after the new strings and set up.

I'm starting to think this is the case. Will uncover and inspect it tomorrow.

This one is my personal favorite. The only 2 autralians I knew in this thread don't post anymore though. They weren't fun to joke with anyways.

australian """"humor"""" is merely a facade under which the dark terrors and unworldy regrets embedded into their culture are sublimated. only by insulting and humilliating each other can they live peacefully with themselves.

That's kind of depressing, they do the same thing in american ghettos.
