If anyone still cares, it's been put up on Spotify.
This got literally zero buzz on this board and it's a downer. It's a 7.5 at least, very great record and it deserves recognition.
Disc 4 a best.

I agree. The span of songs from 98 to 04 is amazing.
4 > 2 > 1 = 5 > 3
>50 songs
nobody ain't time anymore for this in 2017: the whole world has ADHD nowadays

Oh awesome thank you. This is the first time since the week after it was released
>>72908763
Good post danke
I keep starting it and lose interest around track 4 or 5. Come Back as a Cockroach is my current pick for worst song on the year. I'll eventually get through this because 69 Love Songs is an all time favourite

I actually agree that this is part of the problem. So is the format. I think buying a 3 disc album in 1999 was very different from just seeing a 50 song long album on spotify because when the latter happens you're just gonna be like "Fuck that's so many songs shut the fuck up w/ that"
With discs it's more like 3 discs that are 23 songs each which is more palatable.

What don't you like about Come Back as a Cockroach? It's one of the album's highlights imo.
Disc 1 is pretty middling imo, it has some weak tracks on it. I almost didn't keep listening because of it, but I decided to keep going. Disc 2 is very strong, disc 3 may lose you again, but disc 4 and 5 are extremely familiar Magnetic Fields territory and idk how you wouldn't like them as a fan of 69 Love Songs.
Fantano would have given this at least an 8 if he ignored the so-called memoir aspect and just listened to it for the music. /mu/ would have then paid more attention to it.

it's stupid that you can't listen to separate discs on spotify
>>72909665
What do you mean? Spotify has it grouped by 10 songs for each disc.
>>72909720
there's no option to pick one disc to listen to. It autoplays to the next one
>>72909816
??? then stop the song or put something else in queue
click like if u don't care
>>72909816
I don't see what the big deal is. You could just make a playlist for each disc or do the queue thing.
>>72908722
correct ranking
best song from each is 66, 77, 93, 97, 15
>>72909883
not good design though
It was alright, not really any classics on here besides "No"
A few songs are flat up melodic rehashes of old Magnetic Fields songs
>>72911741
69 85 94 03 12
>>72911968
>not really any classics on here besides "No"
literally r/atheism: The Song
I just did a listen through of 69 Love Songs for the first time in probably 5 or so years. Some of the tracks rule, but it just reminded me how often Merritt can be too god damn coy for his own good. I'm huge on a lot of the earlier stuff, though... where does this land?
>>72912335
It's better than everything that came after 69LS.
>>72908763
Yeah, just look at all of those 50 song records from the 60s!
