I thought Petruccis were Jazz III with a different grip. You can see in the picture that they're a little bigger. Better quality than the average J3 ( because of the smoothed edges) but I don't want to throw off my game adjusting to it. Just going to lose it, anyway.

I know I'm retarded for coming here for advice but still... Neck pickup, roll back tone knob (although you can keep it up for a more modern sound), amp EQ should be: treble at 3 (out of 10), mids at 4, bass at 6.

Then, you know, have an advanced understanding of jazz harmony.
>>
>>72899494
I still recognize you and talk to you brother. I appreciate you, and that you're doing your own thing.
>>
>>72900941

i said bully jokingly like responding to what you just said
>>
>>72901102
I get that, but it made me think about things. Instead of making a dumb joke at your expense I'd rather talk to you about what you're doing.

Also,
What's up?

It's a general question encompassing things like "what are you doing?" and "how are you doing?"

Basically what's on your mind and what are your goals for the day.
>>
>>72901064
I mean, these are just general amp settings that I find seem to work across several different types of clean amps for jazz guitar. Obviously you can tweak them here and there. Like, you probably wouldn't set your mids as high if you were going for more of a metal sound, and you'd probably have your bass and treble much higher.
>>
>>72898015
Rondo is very hit and miss but Kurk stands by his products so he'll help you out.

Don't know if this is the right board because there's only one thread dealing with instruments and this is it.

I want to buy my girlfriend a digital keyboard. She has an interest in learning, but hasn't played or done anything of the sort.

This looks like the only decent option on Amazon because of the touch-sensitive keys. I'd like to stay under $200.

Explain why I shouldn't do this every time some dumb shit wants me to spoonfeed him?

It's taken me years to build up the knowledge and experience I have. I didn't attain it in a day and neither will anybody else, despite what retards here seem to think. Why should I take the time to extend a helping hand to someone too lazy to do a quick Google search for basic information? Why should I bother holding your hand and wiping your ass after you get through shitting? You're not a fucking baby, and I'm not your fucking daddy.

Someone here once said if you're not obsessed then you don't deserve good shit. Nothing truer has ever been written here. If you come here asking dumb questions then you deserved to get mocked and memed on like the entitled shitstain you are. No one here owes you a goddamn thing.

for real. I powered through my practices the last 2-3 weeks of relative boredom and lack of willpower to write new stuff...it noticeably paid off + I finally got back in the mindset to work on my tracks.

one thing that helps me get back in the groove a lot is to go back to comping/improvising jazz progressions. gets my noggin' joggin' with chord extensions, substitutions, chromaticism, etc.

Which amp has more clean headroom. JC120, or Mesa Lonestar?

I would assume its the JC120 but does it sound sterile and artificial? I know on the Lonestar you can crank the mids, and I would similar control with the Roland.
>>
How do I actually learn to play over difficult progressions and git gud?

All I want to do is improvise over anything I want and I'd say I've gotten pretty good at it, but I've lost motivation and find it really difficult to grind heaps of arpeggios and chord substitutions. I know that they are useful and everything but it's just not going anywhere for me. Especially with trying to learn from books, I always get burnt out really fast. What do?

Stop listening to guitar music to prevent the work of others from occupying your subconscious. Listen to classical or dubstep instead. Now play what your heart is hungry for. Don't obsess over originality of you're not recording something intended for sale. Nobody cares if you are ripping of Boston in your living room.

thats not learning how to play guitar, thats learning how to play covers.
>>
>>72910439
you're not learning how to play the instrument, your just learning to put your fingers on the right spot at the right time. Learning involves music theory, scales, and technique
>>
>>72910528
Nah you're over thinking it. Soulseek would be nice like that other anon said. What you're sharing is SO far down on the list of things piracy "laws" worry about.
>>
>>72910609
sure, but you learn chords very quickly this way and all kinds of other basics like that
>>
>>72910439
so many pros started this way

its a perfectly reasonable way to learn to play

the key is to learn lots of different ones and supplement it with learning some scales and theories

but I think its important to do because you learn to contextualize what you can do with those scales and chords
>>
hope to get some opinions perhaps

I love Josh Homme's guitar sound like many people do and I know a big part of his lead tones are the use of filters

so I'm thinking of getting one these filters or cocked wah pedals

so does anyone have experience with these? Anyone know a good one?

I know theres the Dunlop Q-Zone Daredevil Atomic Cock, Stone Deaf PDF, etc

just don't have a good music store around here even the guitar center here doesn't have shit

any input is appreciated

I'm not worried about my ISP, I'm worried that the person/company selling the course will know it was me who put it up online because of some 'digital signature' (bullshit term I picked up, don't know if it's even real) in the files and start private lawsuits or whatnot, because the course is copyrighted.
So I figured if I screenshot every page, this can't happen.
The course is great btw, no bullshit, straight to the point, you learn as soon as you start reading, and you'll basically find out everything you ever wanted to learn about guitar.
>>
>>72910824
>So I figured if I screenshot every page, this can't happen

lol anon you're worrying so much over a non issue. youre not going to upload it on your personal website just stick it on soulseek.
>>
>>72910824
yes, pdfs can easily have a signature in them to identify the owner/purchaser
it can be invisible, or a visible watermark
for example, when you download a pdf from one of those scientific journal sites they actually print your name on the side of each page
so if you don't see that, then you can just screenshot each page and you're good to go
there are websites and programs that convert a pdf to images in one go, too
>>

The reshaping of the Garbagecaster neck is finished. Took me a couple weeks since I live in the middle of nowhere and it was actually quicker to file the holes by hand rather than getting a drillbit. I ain't spending 5x the price of the drillbit in gas just to go get it.

Back story is

Just slide the E-Em and A-Am chord shapes around, and work on moving scales around the fretboard. Memorize the major/minor scales and their relative across all the strings and how to move them around.
Never learn by just fucking muscle memory. Understand the theory and how to phrase instead of just knowing how to play in A minor and C major scale. Explore the fretboard and avoid being the college guitarist sitting by the tree strumming the standard open chord shapes like a cunt.

No, you're doing it right but sometimes the string gets caught outside the ridge, what I do is put it the string in with the ball end beneath the bottom edge of the pin, put the pin in half way then pull up on the string so so the ball end is mostly in. It should go up smoothly that's how you know it's properly centered. If it's hard to pull the string then it's probably caught on something.

All the metal zones have the same settings, same chipped paint, and the same marks on the rubber for the foot switch. Not only that, but bottom row 2nd metal zone from the right, part of the pedal is actually missing next to the dist knob. Same thing with the ds1s, same settings and the same corner has the paint worn.

It doesn't have to be all the way in to hold properly, but it's definitely safer and meant to be in all the way. Don't force it though. Those holes swell up with humidity and age and jamming the peg in further is just going to make string changes that much more of a pain in the ass.

The peg is not even meant to hold all of the force of thestring, just help guide it into the notches inside the guitar where the ball end catches on.

>learning to play barre chords
>pressing down as hard as I can but still sounds like a dead note with a little bit of sound

What am I doing wrong?
>>
>>72920414
hit each string once until you find the one that's fucked
then you'll know where your problem is
the trick is to place the knuckle of the barring finger properly
>>
>>72920414
It's not about pressing really hard or as hard as you can. It's about pressing with enough pressure in the right position. You need to examine your hand position and, as >>72920442 said, find what notes aren't ringing properly. Then, adjust your position to make those notes ring out.

It definitely does take time and strengthening, so maybe the hardest you can press isn't enough yet. With more practice, you'll get it.

Roman seriously thinks that adding a trip code to the end of the name is going to fool us into not realizing it's him. How fucking special is this kid?
>>
>>72920520
The only strings with sound are both of the E strings, so I guess I'm not pressing down hard enough with the middle of my finger.
>>
>>72920662
i know bro. its so dumb its funny, but i know he aint trying to be funny which makes it so much better.

I was in the thread he added it, he's a retard. Some anon called him out when he was pretending to be the old fuck with the strats. His way of "proving" it wasn't him was to write something on a piece of paper saying that he wasn't roman then taking a picture of it to post here. He has no logic.

Alright, how the fuck do bands like Drive Like Jehu and Unwound get really cool sounding feedback like they do? Is it guitars? pickups? amps? pedals?
>>
>>72913932
I'm trying to sell mine and upgrade to a Classic Player right now actually
It actually doesn't sound half-bad but the rest of the guitar and the build quality in general is just kinda weak. Sometimes I have to flip the pickup switch back and forth a few times because one of them will start feeding back or not turn on at all when I try and switch. Sometimes the strings rattle in the bridge a little, although if you upgrade to 11's it solves most of the common bridge problems. The neck pickup sounds great clean but not that good with distortion, and the bridge pickup sounds great with distortion but not that good clean.

You're getting what you pay for man. I don't regret buying it and I seriously considered keeping it for a while but if you want to use it for anything serious then personally I'd just say save a couple hundred more bucks and pick up a used CP Jazzmaster.

Guitar fag for 20 years here just found your site. Heres osme tips for you absolute normies (i can tell who you are) understanding these will translate indirectly to guitar gainz

>File your picks
>Setup your own gear
>Learn the harmonic series
>Learn anatomy, at least your hands
>Do full body excercise and streches
>Fucking learn to breath regular while you play
>Clean your fretboard every string change you disgusting fucks

most importantly

>Learn how to shit out a solid 60 seconds of music, COLD. Cause on a good day, everyone can play, but it matters what you can do on a bad day, too. Raise your lowest bar.
>>
>>72921334
>>File your picks

why would i do that if i use perfect picks like jazz 3s
>>
>>72921567

the same reason you sharpen: a pencil, a knife, or for a closer analogy, a classical guitarists fingernails, etc
>>
>>72921733
So I can cut my strings better?
>>
>>72921771
okay
>>
>>72921733
have you ever used a jazz 3? the point is already sharp enough, filing it is pointless, and when they wear down a bit i....use a new one. they're like $3 for a pack of 10. i use ultrex ones now and they don't wear down at all.

stop using shitty picks that you need to file
>>
>>72921805
>sharp enough

And thats where you've misstepped, newfriend. Do yourself a favor and learn a bit about how classical guitarists like their fingernails.
>>
>>72922069
picks aren't nails retard
>>
>>72920709
Sounds like it. You'll get it with time as you practice more. It is a common hurdle for learners to straddle.
