what a pretentious cover
>>72893836
A few of the tracks start to drag
That's about the worst I can say though I love that album
>>72894511
Title track and Time To Get Away are garbage
Also not nearly as original as a lot of people give it credit for
>>72895178
Because the first Half of Diamond Mine sucks and Some Grace's guitars sound like shit on an album that already has poor production. The aca pella part was pretty good though. The rest of the album is pretty good though desu
>>72894511
It's just meh for everyone outside of North America.

One of my favorite albums anyway.
>>72895844
The stretch from Untitled to Say Hello To The Angels is perfect and one of the best five-song stretches in history but the album loses a lot of steam right afterwards
Absolutely brilliant songwriting with near-zero originality. Everything about their sound is cribbed from better groups, mostly The Chameleons
Also Banks is a weak lyricist
I still listen to it more than most 80's post-punk albums though desu

Other than that no complaints.
>>72896302
Sell-outs who try too early in their careers to make a new sound. Should've stuck with the neo-psych of Innerspeakers.
>>72896436
Not bad, but made way too late, especially since what Mike Love did to the group, and Brian's absence, in the 80's caused too much damage to the group dynamics.

I think that's supposed to be the appeal.
>>72896436
It feels like a rehash of the style of their 70s output, except they're much older and aren't as good at what they're doing. It feels like a cash grab for the 50th anniversary... Which I suppose it is? It's not awful, of course, but it's certainly not something to write home about.
>>72898655
overblown, quirky, limp, melodramatic, decemberists on xanax on broadway. disney folk

>>72899829
Alright. I just don't get it then.
>>72899843
It's fine. I just get annoyed when nobody can discuss anything but vocals and lyrics here.

Well it is essentially one long piece.
>>72898750
I know this must be bait, but people dick ride this album so hard that I know someone believes it's a 10/10
That shit is just boring, generic rock. Imo it takes all the appeal of Will's solo work and chucks it out the window. It's okay but how anyone can say it is better than Twin Fantasy, Monomania, or even How To Leave Town is beyond me

Yeah, I find her attractive but Strange Mercy is about the only album I truly like and enjoy of hers. I can't really go back to her other albums like I can this one. It's probably more in the range of 7.5 - 8.5 but to me it's a 10. It's one of those albums I found when my taste was developing and I was a pleb. That's not say the music from that time period doesn't hold up because it does but most of it doesn't. It just holds some special weight to me when it does

It's so depressing and paranoid
this album is 97% perfect. Some people may not like Touched and some may think that the middle tracks drag a little big, but it doesn't matter because everything is so rich
>>72911726
You're a huge pleb if you don't like Touched, it's such a unique song. There are other reasons to not consider this album 100% perfect though. The songwriting is really simple and at the end of the day it's straightforward pop with an interesting twist.
