/rym/ as starting point. if above 4.0 or and has loads of ratings, then it will likely be very high on my to listen to list. secondly google, which often results in wiki. scaruffi as well, especially a few years ago, even though i also disagree with him a lot. a few friends who share my taste, with most i don't really discuss music as my tastes tend to be quite different. some boards like /mu/ and few others as well. rym sucks for classical, so for that i use either amazon reviews, talkclassical or wiki etc.
