Why? That's just quirky pop music.
>>
>>72887224
I give it Pet sounds. Not only is it the most influential, but it's also one of the most complex album. It's crazy to think one man did it all by himself. Also, worst would have to be meme grips
>>
>>72887294
Most of those albums is just quirky pop music.

There is no best, it's subjective.

The question is, which one do you like most of those albums, anon?

>>72887324
Kek, unironically this.
>>
>>72887335
What is your favorite album?
>>
>>72887309
I don't find Pet Sounds (or anything by The Beach Boys) aesthetically pleasing to the ear. I get that it's very influential and important. But a song like Don't Talk is just way too cheesy for me to listen to

I think the easiest thing to like on mu/core is The aeroplane over the sea but my perosonal favorite is slint.

Talking heads and loveless is the most over rated.
>>
King Crimson and Beefheart are the best there.

Swans, Slint, Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine,Talking Heads I won't argue with, I like them.

The rest is absolute trash.

Pet Sounds > Remain In Light > Soundtracks For The Blind > Spiderland > TVU&N > TMR > ITCOTCK > Loveless > Lift Yr. Skinny Fists > Kid A > MBDTF > MPP > TMS > ITAOTS > American Football

radiohead, animal collective, kanye west, and death grips all have better albums than the ones on this list, that's why i put them relatively low

I'm surprised someone's taste could be like this, it almost seems random.
Try this:
>Tier 1
Captain Beefheart
King Crimson
My Bloody Valentine
Slint
>Tier 2
The Beach Boys
Neutral Milk Hotel
Swans
Talking Heads
>Tier 3
American Football
Death Grips
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Kanye West
Radiohead
The Velvet Underground & Nico
>Tier 4
Animal Collective

I'm not sure why we're referring to the artists, since this thread is about /mu/core. If we're talking about the artists' complete works then my response changes quite a bit.

I've been trying to get into music recently, I've been going through a bunch of essential charts and then finding similar artists on last.fm whenever I like what I'm listening to. Out of the /mu/core chart the only ones I haven't listened to yet is Pet Sounds and Soundtracks for the Blind. Here's what I thought for anyone interested:

I thought ITAOTS was good, I loved when the vocalist strained their voice at some parts but they didn't do it enough to have a lasting effect on me.
I didn't like Kid A at first, I listened to OK Computer and then Kid A and then loved Kid A, after I listened to the full album I downloaded everything Radiohead.
I didn't like Loveless. Maybe I'm not getting something? Should I give it another listen?
Merriweather Post Pavilion I remember enjoying a lot but I couldn't really get into it. I'm giving it another listen right now.
I didn't think anything of Remain in Light but loved it when I listened to it a second time.
I liked Spiderland but it doesn't seem like something I'd actually commonly listen to.
I loved ITCOCK.
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven doesn't seem like my kind of thing. I liked the last song a lot though.
I already listen to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I think I prefer Late Registration.
I fucking love parts of The Money Store and hate other parts. I'm not sure what to make of it.
I didn't like American Football.
Trout Mask Replica was a fun listen I'd never listen to it normally. I'll definitely check out other Beefheart albums if they're just as fun but less weird. I love the vocalists voice.
I listened to The Velvet Underground & Nico, then downloaded it and listened to it again, enjoyed it and kept listening and I'm still not really sure I get it if that makes any sense.
