Here's a newer band playing in the old goth rock style that's pretty good. and by pretty good i mean that i bought their material on bandcamp and i never ever do that.

Also wanna recommend The Merry Thoughts.

Gonna rec some more stuff to bump the thread and contribute.
The Merry Thoughts
>A german band from the 90s that has a ton in common with TSOM. The vocalist not only sounds like Andy Eldritch, he bears a striking physical resemblance as well. In fact there were rumors when this band was active that Andrew (being fluent in german) had moved to Germany and started a new project.

Hateful Abandon
>A project from the UK with roots in the black metal scene. Originally started as a metal project but has gone more in the post-punk direction. Supposed to put out new material soon. A favorite of mine.

Blacklist
>A now defunct post-punk band from New York. The vocalist is half of the duo behind Azar Swan and also helms the metal project Vaura

:Of The Wand & The Moon:
>everybody should know this one. Originally started as mumbley Di6 worship neofolk on the earlier material, his latest two full lengths are much more musically mature in my opinion. The Lone Descent in particular is a masterpiece.

Never released an official album, but we had a RSD exclusive reissue of some of their demo tapes and live versions on vinyl plus a CD.
Don't have the vinyl rips, but here's the CD stuff, it's wav, get it if you like it.

F*CK!
Anything else similar to Clan of Xymox? Specifically, their album Medusa. That's a 5/5 masterpiece.
Wanna rec this project too.

Also, as someone into /dark/, is enemies list a label i should check out? I never got into (or listened to) HANL on the account of the meme status they've accrued on /mu/. Planning For Burial is pretty good though.

I still haven't checked these guys out but I've heard good things. I saw Worm Ouroboros a few yearss ago and the vocalist was wearing a Loss shirt that piqued my interest.
My gf got me into these guys, dont know much about them.
this song though, im sure some one can rap to the intro lol

So I have this friend that started listening to music actively about two years ago and, together with another friend of mine, we took him under our wing and have been showing him lots of music. Just recently I got him into instrumental music, with Post-Rock, which he seems to quite enjoy.
The other day though, he hit me from the left field when I was describing him Pharmakon, which I had just found out.
"How can a song be dark or disturbing if not through the lyrics?"
So now I'm trying to see if I can make a playlist of dark instrumental music that won't scare the poor boy TOO much, he almost had a mental breakdown playing Silent Hill. I was thinking pic related for example.
Do you guys have any examples of this?
>>72885538
i always used to skip this track when i was listening to this album because it was just... i don't know.
emotionally disturbing i guess.

>>72885567
>>72885538
oh and maybe show him Weighing Souls With Sand and give him the backstory on The Angelic Process. That's some pretty emotionally heavy stuff, but that's coming from someone who connected with the music first and heard about the history afterwards.

The closest I can think of is the KVB, a little bit of Drab Majesty, and especially the collaboration of Pieter Nooten on Michael Brooks for their "Sleeps With The Fishes" album.
Is Ghost /dark/?

No, Ghost is a metal band.

some amazing post-punk fron west london. one of these guys teaches at cardiff uni now.
>>72887557
>>72887574
/dark/ is Goth, Post-Punk, Industrial, or something related; so unless it's Industrial metal it isn't /dark/.
>>72887539
/metal/ here
we don't want ghost, you can keep them
>>72887700
No no I insist, they're stylistically within your bounds so you're free to keep them.
>>72887643
it's the ill-defined word Goth that is key in understanding why certein non-industrial acts can be considered /dark/

Recommend some neofolk, I'm liking Wardruna and Sangre de Muerdago so far

Try Imbaru. What other artists have you tried?
The Cult's 'Live At The Lyceum' was recorded today in 1984. That's 33 years ago.

Do you guys like the Ukrainian Goth underground?
How does one mark /dark/ music that fits the summer? Something groovy with a voodoo theme might work, in my thoughts.

Aaww! What would /dark/ be without it's passive agression filled infighting? Funny to observe how /dark/ies practice social cannibalism online and also offline.
By the way, here's some new rad stuff by GRYPT (pic related):
https://grypt.bandcamp.com/album/tin-can-tomb-and-other-modern-interpretations-of-hell
That's quite a band which has definitely the potential to build a bridge between goth and the electronic/noise/industrial music scene.
>>72893041
Chelsea Wolfe received a lot of ridicule from /mu/ due to her album cover aesthetics. This track is actually quite hot!
>>72891863
Don't know. Maybe you should give suggestions above a try?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziUz13TkYSs
Saw him live back when it was still just one guy and to be honest it was a fucking hypnotic show. Me being dead drunk probably helped as well, but still.
The guy knows his shit when it comes to coming up with great melodies.
>Pastel """""""Goths""""""""
What does everybody love so much about this one?
It's got some brilliant moments like Practice Makes Perfect/Sand In My Joints/Outdoor Minor but I feel like a lot of it is too glacial and not super interesting desu
