why he do it?

oh you know bro
>>
read something about too much anxiety medication.
>>
Idk but the whole thing is surreal as fuck. After Audioslave broke up I never really followed Cornell a whole bunch except for Soundgarden getting back together; now he's all I'm seeing or hearing about. I was a real big fanboy of his work in my teens. Your childhood heroes seem immortal so when they die out of fuckin nowhere it's a little unsettling. Guy was young as fuck too so there's that.

He had been taking Ativan for anxiety, and he accidentally took a few too many. Side-effects of Ativan include suicidal thoughts, paranoia, slurring of speech and impaired judgement.

The slurring of his speech add up with how he was acting that night according to what people had been saying about their last show, and the phone call with his wife just a bit before he killed himself.

So basically, it's looking like these pills really fucked him up and sent him into a pilled up hazey craze.
>>
>>72874039
It was the only way he could get off. Many such cases of this. Sad!
>>
>>72874303
this
except there's no telling if he accidentally took more or not, probably did it on purpose but not with intention to hang himself

Because most of you boys don't have personalities and emotional bonding with a boy only goes so far. Boys have sheep mentality but they don't like to show this to the outside world. Their egos are massive too, they don't want to be exposed after all. That is why their simple minds think that wearing a Chris or Cornell shirt will make them look like "deep and edgy" personalities. When in reality, they are nothing more than fragile simpletons covered in toxic masculinity. It's sad really. I feel bad for so called male "Chris Cornell music fans".

I dont know whats more genius.

Killing yourself at your peak, or when youre slowly fading away yet now gain a massive "tragic legend" bonus.

Shame Glenn Danzig didnt when he did Danzig II.
>>
>>72874911
I like to think that Cornell had already made his material so his loss wasn't so tragic
but I know I'm trying to fool myself
higher truth was fucking 5/5
>>
>>72874572
What?
>>
>>72874792
But for how much longer?
Also, both of them easily could have done. Lanegan ended up in prison in his younger days due to his recklessness but turned himself around, and Arm had a heroin habit himself but managed to kick it.
>>
>>72874949
Not to mention he was still a great live performer. Some musicians might creatively get worn out as they age, but can still perform. It's a great loss for that alone since it deprives people the opportunity to experience performances by a grunge pioneer who was one of the best vocalists of his generation.
>>
>>72875035
yeah I had the opportunity to see his acoustic performance live
didn't have money then and I thought I'll just go next time

>>72874705
Mike Starr and Andrew Wood did it too. Both from drug overdoses.

This is seriously sad to see Chris accidentally dying from taking one too many prescription pills and his judgment becoming impaired. Even though he took one too many than he was supposed to, a drug doesn't do you much good if it makes you suicidal.

I'm sad now
>>
>>72875737
yeah it's such a fucking pointless death and great loss
I can't imagine the pain of his family
kind of happy that he wasn't fully aware when he did it.
>>
>>72874303
That's not enough, that's half the story. anti-anxiety chems put him on a specific mood, but what could be the external stimulus that set it off?
>>
>>72875841
manic depression?
>>
>>72875968
that's still in the mood category. he's been depressed his entire life, what was different, what was a new low that night?
>>
>>72875800
that's made this thing a whole lot easier for me.
>>
>>72875800

>>

I hear that hotel staff didn't let Chris' security guy into the room as he wasn't authorised.

>At 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Vicky Cornell phoned Kirsten and asked him to check on her husband, “to see if he is allright because he did not sound like he is okay,” the report said. Vicky Cornell told the bodyguard her husband sounded “groggy and just kept saying, ‘I am just tired,’ and hung up the phone.”

There's a police report on it here:
http://www.detroitnews.com/story/entertainment/music/2017/05/19/chris-cornell-suicide-police-report/101876200/
The conversation started at 11:35pm and she rang his bodyguard at 12:15am. The issue was that they couldn't get into the room because he'd latched it shut and he wasn't authorised to enter by the hotel, so he only got in when he kicked down that door and then the door to the bathroom much later. Medics didn't get into the room until just before 1am. What's sad is that if he had been allowed into the room, he might've been able to save him.

I took Ativan for "awhile". Generalized anxiety and panic. I would like to think that he had a way better tolerance than some light weight. The mind is a complicated thing. Suicide is usually a culmination of many things. Not just one. I've been suicidal related to severe anxiety. Ativan melted that away. Benzos are very effective. With that, potentially addictive.

Me and my girlfriend at the time bought tickets to see him at the Royal Albert Hall last year. We broke up maybe a couple of weeks before, amicably, and when it came time to arrange going to it, she said 'I'm not really in the mood''. I said to her, this is Chris Cornell, you'll regret it if you don't go. ''Nah, not been listening to him much recently''.
I took someone else, and it was fucking 10/10. She posted on facebook yesterday 'I can't believe I'll never see him perform'

He was a coke addict.
The only people of the 4 grunge bands that had their shit together were Mike Inez, Dave Grohl, Noveselic, Everyone in Soundgarden except Chris, Everyone in Pearl Jam except McCredy. Vedder was a bit of a mopey fuck in the mid 90s I don't know how serious that was.
>>
>>72879357

I still can't really believe it happened. Not a /mu/ regular as don't listen to music as much as I used to but loved Soundgarden since my early teens and still listenend to them now and then. One of my favourite vocalists ever and glad to have seen Audioslave live. Usually not bothered by people I don't personally know dying but this feels kinda personal for some reason. The fact he was reunited and on tour with Soundgarden makes it more poignant for me too. Just a sad senseless loss. He seemed to have it all.

Ativan is the most abundantly prescribed benzo in the west. If you go to a regular doctor or psychologist and complain about panic attacks or w/e they will readily prescribe it to you as a less addictive alternative to xanax . Ativan completely shatters your inhibitions and makes you looped as fuck. If you go an an ativan binge you're more than likely to wake up to find evidence of yourself doing a bunch of shit the night before that you have no recollection of doing. Thugs take ativan and other benzos to go do shit like B&E a store without feeling anxious/inhibited.
>be struggling with depression and anxiety
>self medicate with a high dose sedative/hypnotic meant to treat panic attacks
>sedative hypnotic numbs your CNS and shatters all inhibitions
>"fuck it, i'll just neck myself"

It's really that simple. I've struggled with benzo addiction and have been in this exact scenario many times, but clearly I was never depressed enough to actually snap and neck myself under the influence. Or I didn't have the balls to do it. Depends on your point of view.

Fucking kill yourself. Weed faggots have no perspective of anything other than their private worlds where they think weed solves everything. Fuck off and die.

Wouldn't you just crack the fuck up at this point if for some insane reason Eddie killed himself?

Bowie is the only musician or even celebrity for that matter that I've ever cried for. I was sitting on my floor in the morning cross legged reading an article about him and cried after I finished it.

I do know that I've received a small dose drip of ativan when I was withdrawaling from alcohol and nothing ever made me feel so normal. It was like a miracle. I didn't even feel high at all, just completely normal again like I was repaired.

>“The funniest memory I have of Chris goes back to Christmas time, maybe seven years ago. I’m in Culver City, [Calif.], of all places. It’s almost Christmas Eve, and I’m walking through a Toys ‘R’ Us. Everything had been picked through. Nobody was really shopping because it was two hours before Christmas Eve and I see this guy — tall, super-handsome dude and he’s over picking through the girls’ section. I got my shopping cart and all my toys are for boys and there’s Chris, and his shopping cart has dolls and princess outfits. He’s looking at my shopping cart with baseball bats and footballs and he says to me, ‘I got the very last Sleeping Beauty Castle. Sold out.’ He was so proud, he was trying to brag to me he got the very last fairy princess castle."

The thing is, no, I shouldn't smoke weed. I understand it may work for many people and that's fine, but it doesn't work for me. I've tried to make it work and get past it like 100 times but 99 of those times it just ended up to be and existential nightmare, felt like I was losing my mind. I've only ever had 1 or 2 good highs ever from weed. I don't smoke it.

Weed faggots continually fail to perceive reality outside of their weed bubbles. Just because you like it and it helped your friend doesn't mean shit about how people react to it, only you guys.

Didn't cry but got pretty emotional. I've never cared so much about the death of a celebrity or a musician before. Even Weiland, and I got into STP around the same time as Soundgarden.

I've always considered Soundgarden (along with Chris' other projects) among my favorite artists but this is really reaffirming how much I love all of his music and how much it means to me. Giving me a lot of perspectives.

I always felt fortunate I was too young to be affected by the deaths of Kurt and Layne. But now we all have to go through it. It's fucking inescapable. Andy Wood, Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell. FUCK

Why is it always the frontmen?
Kind of spooky.

a lot of pressure being a good front man. Everyone wants their band to sell and to perform in front of many people. Most great artists want nothing to do with all the other things it entails and aren't emotionally equipped to handle it.

Being on the road forces you to miss out being there for the people you care about which I imagine can leave you with a lot of guilt over time. Chris never seemed to take a break from it all and always seemed to manage his work with aplomb. That may have belied what his lyrics have been telling us all along.

Can we all agree that Chris really rocked the short hair?
