Suicide is literally pointless.

You have and are everything, but because of a temporary state of mind you decide to become literally nothing.

No more energy. Cease to exist. Why?

Just be in pain for a few weeks/months/years. Get help. Suicidal thoughts pass. And people who struggled on often become stronger.
>>

I was hoping for the same. I actually thought King Animal was quitesolid though. My biggest issue being a few filler tracks (the opening song was weak as hell for instance) and Chris' declining vocal quality. But songs like Bones of Birds, By Crooked Steps and Blood on the Valley Floor were great. Sounded like a natural progression from Down on the Upside in a lot of ways.

Guess we'll never know sadly. Shame they didn't do another album sooner.

Alright Gents. We got a conspiracy here. This is from washington posts story about it:

"Cornell, 52, was found dead early Thursday in his room at the MGM Grand Detroit, police said. The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death as suicide by hanging."

the very next paragraph:

"A family friend had called 911 around midnight after finding Cornell unresponsive on the bathroom floor at the hotel, police said."

So which is it? Was he hanging or was he on the floor?

He could have hung himself from a doorknob.
It happens.
Seems goofy, though.
>>
>>72855219
Well it sure as fuck took him long enough. Why is this just now happening?
>>
>>72857261
Hanging doesn't literally mean the coroner needed to see his body swinging from the rafters to make a ruling. Unnamed friend as first responder cut him down then called EMTs then called coroner who then ruled. Also, give monitoring priority to Detroit sources, they'll have more.
>>
I don't get it. Who kills themselves at 52? You made it that far why end it so late in life? Suicide is definitely confusing and illogical so answers to such questions can't really be found. No idea what Chris's personal life was like.

>temporary state
People that are severely depressed and/or experience acute distress generally are incapable of acknowledging that it is temporary. They have an intense certainty that it isn't. And, in some respects, sometimes it isn't without extensive treatment.

People generally aren't that into dying. Even suicidal people. It just becomes more palatable than living, and the compulsions are often illogical and foreign to healthy people.

man, I was even more phased when Scott Weiland died. I mean, it's only because of the wave of dead rockstars since then that we've all started to become numb to it. But in reality, this is a monumental loss. He was somebody admired and revered for decades. I would have cared about his passing so deeply if it were a few years ago, but at this point it's just like.... shiieeeet
>>
>>72857526
As I know, he struggled with depression and social anxiety through all of his life. But I agree that he didn't look like suicidal type of guy. Life fucked him up pretty hard (death of Andrew Wood, divorce with his first wife, Soundgarden's break-up, etc.), but he always gave me an impression that he can endure it ("nothing seems to kill me, no matter how hard I try").

Judging by his recent activities in social networks, his suicide wasn't pre-planned and maybe was caused by some sort of psychotic break.

Revived ROTM and revived Soundgarden were both inferior to Audioslave, although I'm not so sure Audioslave as a whole is superior to earlier pre-breakup Soundgarden - the sound and style were distinct from each other.
Audioslave certainly allowed Cornell to stretch his vocal wings and do his best vocal work ever.
I will say Badmotorfinger is better than any Audioslave album, but both Audioslave albums were better than Superunknown (Fight me faggots it had 6 good songs out of 15 tracks), Down on the Upside and the revival album
>>
>>72859491

I was literally obsessed with CC's music in my high school years. There were a couple years there where I legitimately didn't listen to anything other than Soundgarden/Audioslave/TOTD/Cornell solo stuff.

I'm just glad I got to see him live once. It was at Red Rocks during the first Soundgarden reunion tour. I'll always remember that as being the loudest show I've ever seen (from a pure volume standpoint). My ears were still ringing like three days later.
