When there is: Faith, Seventeen Seconds, Pornography and The Head On The Door?

Because pop

Faith and Pornography are indeed comparable, though I personally think Seventeen Seconds is too skeletal when taken as a whole to measure up. Personally, I think Disintegration returns to that sound while carrying the lessons of Head on the Door and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me in tow, resulting in songs you wouldn't have seen on those records like Pictures of You, Fascination Street or the title track. It's very much a comprehensive release where their post-punk roots collided with their then current psychedelic pop stylings.

I personally love their pop sound... in fact Close to Me and Six Different Ways are probably my favorite tracks from the band. So yea, I think it's a good point that Disintegration it's a balance between their most cold, melancholic post-punk side and quirky psych pop, even though I don't think it's their greatest record. also checked

>>
I can see why people say it is but the tone and cohesiveness of faith will always top it for me.
>>
>>72849373
Pornography and The Head On The Door are the only two real competitors, Faith and SS are still great tho.
>>
Disintergration just has too many highlights for it to not be their best.
Pictures of You, Lovesong, Lullaby, Plainsong and their best song - Disintergration.
The album's practically perfect from start to finish, whereas the other albums just have tracks that don't fit in as well.
>>
>>72849934
It is a pop record, you pleb.
>>
>>72850060
>primary
>doubt
>cohesive
>>
Their only good song is Disintigration and Big Blood's cover is even better than the original. Why listen to them at all?
>>
>>72850358
just fucking hang yourself gira
>>
>>72851060
How much of a pleb do you have to be to consider Disentigration anything other than a pop record? I really hope you don't think The Cure is "obscure" or "challenging" to listen to.
Seriously, mate. Your average mini-van driving soccer mom probably knows Love Song.
>>
>>72851060
That's not an insult. I love it, and it's a pop record. Nothing wrong with that.
>>
I fucking love The Cure and would definitely say Pornography is comparable. I just really like the dreamy vibes of Disintegration. It's too different from the earlier, more goth/post-punk stuff. The Cure are just that great they have multiple best albums.
>>
>>72851108
How far warped are your perceptions of pop? I mean, it's not the most difficult album of all time but it's always been pretty far from pop music. I've heard Love Song get occasional play from alt. stations, but there's way more poppy Cure albums.
>>
1. Disintegration
2. Seventeen Seconds
3. Faith
4. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
5. Pornography
6. The Head on the Door
7. Wish
8. Three Imaginary Boys
9. Japanese Whispers
10. The Top
the rest don't matter
>>
>>72851294
disintegration is fucking stadium rock dude. don't mean that as an insult but it's basically exceedingly gloomy duran duran, tears for fears type pop anthems
>>
>>72851319
Wild Mood Swings is in my top 3. People don't give it the credit it deserves
>>
>>72849373
Because Disintegration blends all the best elements of what they'd done over the prior ten years into one album
>>
WISH is the best album front to back.....
