DICK DOWN
>>72847077
iv been hoping since black holes that they would make another a good album. Havent happened.
This is like the retarted brother of maddness
>>72847467
What about The Resistance?
Disappointed. Muse give me the most tragic musical blue balls because I know they have so much potential, but this is what we get instead.
>>72847511
Resistance was 6.5/10. Not good but not bad.
>>72847569
Agree with you, one of my favourites, anyway.

At this point they aren't even trying both The 2nd law and drones only had like 1-2 good songs. I don't think they even care anymore. I still wait for the day when Muse releases anything in the likes of Origin of Symmetry,Absolution or Black Holes again.
>>72847711
> Drones over Resistance and Hullabaloo
Please downvote the video. It's the only way they'll realize.
Like they did with that Suicide Silence song.
>>72847856
>>72847711
Jesus you're pleb as fuck. Showbiz, their only non-sellout album, that low?
Here is the ACTUAL rankings from a patrician such as myself:
1. Absolution
2. Showbiz
3. Black Holes and Revelations
4. Origin of Symmetry
5. Resistance
6. Hullabaloo
Don't need to even list anything else, the last two albums are complete trash
>>72847827
>>72847960
Drones was a step in the right direction.
>>72847960
Would be perfect but Showbiz is too high.
the worst thing about this song is bass

>>72848371
It's 50/50 now.
> wew
To be honest, it's not really a bad song, but this is literally Madness with a climax that's not nearly as good.
I wonder how many times Matt think to himself, "I am literally the savior or rock."
Something tells me it's a lot.
DICK DOWN
DICK DOWN
>>72847077
I honestly like it, reminds me of madness and dead inside. Instrumentally, like madness, but structurally like dead inside, mainly because its mid tempo and not much goes on but it's definitely not bad. Matt said they have 2 more poppy songs and a heavier song so im definitely interested to hear if they get more interesting on the heavier song
Name one (1) positive thing about this song.
It has zero (0) redeeming qualities
>>72849360
>Matt said they have 2 more poppy songs and a heavier song
FUCKING MATT it should be the other way around. Also where was this?
>>72847348
Pretty much man, but worse desu.
As long as they get something like The Handler out, I am good. I am not expecting much.
Drones was a step in the right direction, but this is discouraging.
>>72847536
This.
I love OoS and Absolution (Black Holes and Revelations to a slightly lesser degree), but I know I will never get something like that from then again.
>>72847960
>OoS #4
lel
For me:
OoS = Absolution >> BHaR >> The Resistance >Showbiz > Drones > Hullabaloo > The 2nd Law, almost like this guy >>72848362
>>72848733
The problem is that they don't seem to give a fuck now, there is no creativity.
Let's hope there is something way better than this in the album.
>>72849577
Yea it should have been.
also I got it from here http://www.musewiki.org/Eighth_Album#cite_note-IG20171403-3

OOS>Absolution>BHR>Showbiz>Drones>Resistance>Getting shot>T2L
Black Holes and Revelations is the best album.
>>72849603
The Handler was so good it got my hopes up for Drones. But the album lacked. And the lyrics in the first single were kinda shit, the psycho one.
>>72847077
How the fuck is this the same band that released OOS.
1. OOS

Anyway, that last song, All I can think is : DICK DOWN
OOS
Absolution
BH&R
Showbiz
Resistance
2nd Law
Dig Down
Drones
So *this* is why Chris killed himself...
>>72847077
The same middle school anti-establishment drivel they've been spouting for the last 3 albums. Are we surprised?
the chorus is funny.
I heard a couple of singles from when Drones was about to come out and I haven't listened to them since. They still put on a cool live show and their older shit is good but damn they suck now

TRUE MUSE RANKING OF ALBUMS
1. OOS
2. BH&R/Absolution
3. Absolution/BH&R
POWER GAP
Everything else.
Doesn't even matter the ranking because each album is so inconsistent and difficult to compare. Also: I want to murder Matt now because his lyrical ability has not improved at all over the years.
R.I.P. Muse: 2001-2006
End of thread. Thank you all.
>>72852706
Every album but drones has some great songs.
>>72852764
Reapers was good
>>72852764
I agree - but Drones has some good songs too.
>>72852794
>good
Yeah, not great. Its just disjointed. Love the 3/4ths.
>>72852832
>>72852827
>>72852794
>>72852764
I actually like dead inside, reapers, and the handler. Defector is a alright.
Psycho is ruined by the lyrics
>>72852764
>2nd Law has great songs
Bless your heart
Plus, Mercy is an objectively good song.
>>72852832
It really gets me going at times. If the lyrics weren't retarded, it'd be a contender for Muse's top 10.
>>72852871
I still don't get how it's possible for one man to be so bad at writing lyrics
>>72852890
Animals my dude
>>72852871
90% of dead inside is bad. The Guitar solos are god tier.
>>72852937
Oh right, I forgot about that one. Survival too.
>>72852890
Survival is glorious. Weird tonal modes and scales, three key-shifts, and that fuckin' fat, heavy sound and the falsetto and vocal belts. Classic bombastic Muse. I was skeptical for the first year, or so, after it was released, but Survival might be in my top ten - lazy lyrics, notwithstanding (though the argument could be made that their simplicity only makes sense given the subject matter: an almost petty and miserly evolved will to 'compete' and 'win').
There's a bit in the middle of Big Freeze that I adore. Unsustainable is great when Matt starts belting. Isolated System has a nice breakdown bit too. The rest varies between listenable/semi-enjoyable and 'for fuck's sake - why?'.
Animals is fucking GOAT.
I also like the following a lot, in a guilty pleasure sort of way:
*These are not all good tracks, but catchy as fuck or fun to listen to*
Supremacy
Madness
Panic Station
Survival
Explorers
Big Freeze
Everything else is trash

Anyone expecting muse to release stuff that sounds like OoS is silly. I want it too but it wont happen
that being said this isn't from a new album or anything afaik, it's just a single. I hear they're planning to just release some singles as just singles.
>>72853140
Too many, but all time would probably Citizen Erased. Ballonatic is insane too.
>>72851300
100% correct, The only thing is that I think that while drones wasn't fantastic, it had the entire middle of the album which had some fucking amazing riffs compared to resistance.
Buuuuuut Resistance did give us MK Ultra and Unnatural Selection

>MK Ultra
I want more like that, but instead we get this. Ah well.
>>72853140
New born or MK Ultra.
>>72855195
Same song, for the most part. I just know it as ballonatic mostly since I've been jamming the demo tape more recently, and it's mostly where I've heard the song.
>>72855222
I feel that 100%. I'm not saying I like this song at all, or most of the newer cuts muse does, but i understand that he also just wants to experiment with stuff. I accept 2nd law for that, but goddamn it only had Supremacy and Animals.
I liked The Resistance
Like, a lot
But like half of it, like the first 4 songs and the such
Meh, not bad, neither good.
Just listened to my first Muse album (Showbiz to be specific), AMA
>next song will be acoustic
>next album will be 10 -15 songs released individually
>secret show tonight in florida
dig down is mediocre but i still have hope that the boys can put out at least A COUPLE DECENT SONGS VERY SOON
>>72847077
Jesus fucking christ
Just take this band out of their misery already
Listened to it 30 times in a row out of hype...probably hardly going to listen to it in the future
Do you guys think it will be a radio hit?
>>72855437
How did you like Radiohead - The Bends?
>>72855437
Do you plan to listen to more? Did you enjoy it?
If you listen to more, only go to Black Holes and Revalations, rest after is meh.
>>72853140
Resistance.
>>72853140
Plug in Baby. That guitar riff is godlike.
>>72855441

>Do other 4 mediocre songs to compensate
Matt pls
>>72855437
Next album is best album
>>72847077
Fuck this is bad.
>>72855471
I'm trying my hardest to expect that mostly just 2 or 3 songs would be like this and the rest is better
I know is probably empty faith, but fuck it
>>72855506
Drones would have been better I think if they let their ideas develop a little more and have Rich back to produce or do it themselves
Have hope
>>72855471
Lower-ranking Radiohead but that's only b/c of how good their discography afterwards is- I still love it regardless. Planet Telex, Bulletproof (I Wish I Was) and Street Spirit are among their best songs. Just a really fun album to be honest. An actual response, bet you didn't see that one coming, huh?
>>72855474
I actually quite liked it- honestly I just expected shittier Bends/OKC but I'm pleasantly surprised. Sure, it's pretty cheesy, but in all the right ways. The title track and Falling Down were the highlights for me. Definitely will have to revisit it soon, I might listen to Origin of Symmetry soon as well.
>>72855635
origins is gunna rip your dick off
>>72855635
At some point you should listen to some lives, they change plenty of things and they sound great.
>>72855662
How many kpop whores has he gone ball deeps into?
It's pretty good for an alternative pop track, but not good for Muse. A far cry from the Muse of 15 or even 10 years ago.
>>72855548
You may be right to be honest, maybe they're just feeling too free about the idea of trying new concepts and the such that they don't realize they are sometimes dull and vague
>>72853140

>>72857106

>>72857106
Intentional or not?
>>72857576
I mean, maybe.
The George Michael song was based around that one part from Think, anyways.
>When God decides to look the other way, and a clown takes the throne
What did he mean by this?
It's literally Madness but instead of wearing their U2 influence on their sleeve they swap it out for Queen.
Most uninspired track they've put out since Psycho, and Drones was already an album that, if it weren't for Reapers and The Handler, would've made me think Muse just autopilot whatever they make these days. Even when the were fucking up they were at least not boring. This song could've gone a million directions after that intro and yet they went the most predictable route.
>>72857878
well psycho at least was build up on a riff that has been 'with' muse since many years. dig down is just trash
>>72858548
Yeah but that riff did not need to be a full track, nor should it have been. The riff was fine for a live jam but stringing a 4 minute track out of it and mostly it alone was a waste, especially when it's too generic to carry an entire track on it's own.
So I told Matt to release a 30 second intro track as a full single and he actually did it the absolute madman
>>72857878
I know you mention the Queen influence but I loved The Defector for that chorus, and the riff, as well as Mercy.
>>72847077
Is that all this fucking band can do? Scream about weird dystopian science fiction garbage and weird conspiracy theories?
Every time /mu/ sucks Muse's dick I always check, and it's always the same fucking. Three faggots, leading faggot always goes
>wahhhhahh
>*space reference*
>conspiracy theory
>WAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Why do you guys eat this shit up?
If you rank anything after BHAR at all and/or rank BHAR above anything before it, you are wrong and should end yourself.
>>72857776
he literally said it's about trump.
>>72859076
>/mu/
>sucking muse's dick
It's literally never like that. 99% of the time it's /mu/fags saying they're shit.
>>72847077
>when the darkness descends
>and you're told it's the ends
honestly thought the next line was going to be
>it's some kind of madness
he's been trying to rewrite "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" for half a decade
>>72859281
A lot of /mu/ seems to actually like Muse's first four albums. Most of the hate comes from their recent music, with the rest being comparisons to Radiohead.
>>72859438
That's because they are actually good albums. Sucking their dick is extreme, most of the time it's
>muse is shitty radiohead
>muse only made good albums till BHAR (which is true basically)
and
>muse is for redditfags and underage kids
>>72859438
Critics disagree. Origin of Symmetry was poorly received by critics. In fact most of Muse's early work was average in the eyes of critics.
Meanwhile, The Second Law and Drones both won Grammy Awards for best rock album of the year the year they were released.
Honestly, Muse has gotten stronger. The actual musical composition went from simple guitar rifts to incredibly intricate compositions of multiple instruments (listen to Panic Station again).
>>72859497
T2L didnt win grammy, The Resistance did and that means exactly nothing. Grammys are given to anyone who is popular enough to sell thousands of cds.
>>72859497
>Honestly, Muse has gotten stronger.
I agree. I think they have made some strange and not so great decisions in the recent albums but compositionally I think they're awesome in some cases. for example
Panic Station
Resistance
Unnatural Selection
Survival
Animals
Explorers
>>72859497
I was just generalizing. I actually love Panic Station, The 2nd Law, and probably 90% of Muse's music. The new Muse has its strong moments, but for the most part it feels emotionless and sterile compared to the early albums.
>>72859497
>panic station
>good
Neo-/mu/, everyone.
>>72847077
>DICK DOWN DICK DOWN DICK DOWN DICK DOWN
>Such a bad day for music..Chris dies and my favourite band releases this shit :(
>Should be called Madnees 2
lmao. the spic commenters are harsh.
Why do they do this? Did they blow all their cash and need the money or do they genuinely think they're making something good?
>>72859948
Pretty sure its the latter.
Matt Bellamy is the Eminem of alternative pop/rock.
Has the technical ability, but terrible and cringe inducing ideas.
>>72859076
why does everyone on this board judge image/lyrics/muh meaning instead of sounds themselves? you muppets are literally missing the fucking point. judge music, talk about how to judge music, or fuck off
>>72862523
Matt's lyrics are pretty embarrassingly juvenile though. It's just not as bad on the good albums because they're less prominent.
>>72862523
If you don't want people to judge your lyrics then don't fucking write them
>>72847077
How fucking disappointing.
Then again, Matt hasn't wrote a good song since the Resistance, maybe even since BH&R.
>>72852706
I can definitely agree with these ratings. OOS and Absolution are in a tie for first and BH&R is an easy second. All three solid albums, all the recent stuff is wank.
>>72853442
>>72854353
My niggas, except I'd also say Muscle Museum
>>72855854
Origins is their greatest album.
Then you'll get to two more amazing albums (Absolution and BH&R) and then it'll start to go downhill
