No worries brother. Audioslave was my first cornell too
>KNEELING MY HEAD, FOR MY CREATOR. YOU GAVE ME LIFE NOW, SHOW ME HOW TO LIVE.
Not to mention Cochise being the younger generation's first song because of the Iron Man trailer. Cornell did it all

Always thought it was nail in my hand, from my creator. Maybe I'm right, I really don't care, I don't feel like being a prick like usual. Today isn't the day for it.

I havent listened to that song since it was used in a Passion of the Christ music video a decade ago, but that does sound more right in context

Nigger as soon as I got the news and opened Rhapsody I noticed my last song was pic related. I've literally been listening to Soundgarden everyday to help me beat my addictions. Room A Thousand Years Wide describes what its like to be an addict better than any song I know, but theres so many other songs on the album that give me hope I can beat them all someday. I know it sounds cheesey especially at this time, but I have always said this album is the story of my life.

>when he bleeds his heart out
I remember buying Audioslave's debut from a small record store in Camden on the day of its release. I was late to Soundgarden (started listening to them in the late 90s), but I remember being blown away by Cochise.
After that I stopped taking much notice of them, mainly going back to Badmotorfinger whenever I wanted to hear Cornell's scream. But fuck man, he made some amazing rock music.
I WAS CRYIN FROM MY HEART
TEETH
AND BLEEDING FROM MY SOUL
>THE WRECK IS GOING DOOOOOOOWN
God damnit Chris. You should have gotten out.

>but if somebody left out on a ledge
>if somebody pushed you over the edge
>if somebody loved you and left you for dead
>you gotta hold on to your time till you break
>through these times of trouble

God damnit I used to listen to Soundgarden and Audioslave to remind me that it all gets better no matter what
What the fuck why does listening to it now hurt so bad?

THAT THIS COULD BE MY FATE

>Chris never got to break his rusty cage
Eh while his music career had a few memorable songs I am not particularly a big fan of his projects whether it was his solo albums that didnt really bring much to the alternative rock scene or his band soundgarden. I can easily say that grunge was a short lived period that lost its steam quick and ultimately soundgarden along with the rest of the grunge era moody seattle area rock music won't have a lasting impact on music. Except, nirvana, but even then I think music elitists take nirvana too seriously and I would argue nirvana will be forgetten rightfully. Nor will chris cornells records. But thats not to say I didnt enjoy soundgardens discography in small doses. It did produce bangers like "black hole sun" and "spoonman". However a lot of their pre superunkown work is forgettable, and while down on the upside was an album of moody energy and had substance it too doesnt age well. Then theres king animal, it just feels too lazy and uncecessary as a reboot to a band that shouldve died in the 90s. All in all I'd have to give soundgardens discography a strong 3 to a light 4. Modern bands like Death Grips, who I like much better outdo this long forgotten angsty teen band that I felt was best in the 90s and best stayed in the past. Exmilitary for example is an album that I feel chris could never match with its emotional and powerful lyrics. MC ride can do things that grunge era artists could never think of and it makes me realize grunge era was a lot of fake personalities compared to the real and raw energy that is MC ride.

what did you think of my reflection on chris's death? Was I too harsh? Was I justified in placing grunge era music where it belongs, in the past?

ALIVE IN THE SUPERUNKNOWN
I shot my love today would you cry for me
I lost my head again would you lie for me
I left her in the sand just a burden in my hand
I lost my head again would you cry for me
Close your eyes and bow your head
I need a little sympathy
'Cause fear is strong and love's for everyone
Who isn't me
So kill your health and kill yourself
And kill everything you love
And if you live you can fall to pieces
And suffer with my ghost
Just a burden in my hand
Just an anchor on my heart
Just a tumor in my head
And I'm in the dark

I must contain my views
There must be something else
There must be something good

He was raised Catholic I believe. Wasn't really religious as an adult but God would come up in a lot of his lyrics.
I have the Superunknown CD from when it was first released. One of the oldest albums I own. I played it all teh way through today. I forgot how good it is.
Looking back, there really isn't much similarity in music between Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soudgarden, and Alice In Chains.
When you asked for light, I set myself on fire.
And if I go far away I know you'll find another slave.
Now I'm free from what you want.
Now I'm free from what you need.
Now I'm free from what you are.

Thats why grunge isnt a genre it was a marketing package
I was a king I was a moth
with painted wings made of cloth
when did the flame burn so high and get so hot?
Curl like smoke, and breathe again,
Down your throat, inside your ribs,
Through your spine, and every nerve,
Where I watch, and I wait, and yield to the hurt.
