Is pic related worth getting for absolute beginner "musician"?
The PO-12 is a fun little drum machine, but for the combined price of all 3 you can get a DAW with a lot more bang for your buck.
If you just want to get the basics of sequencing, the PO-12 is a fantastic way to start though.
Nah, theyre memes. Honestly just get Ableton or FL and a MIDI controller (AKAI MPK Mini IIs are fantastic and an absolute joy for beginners) and some VSTis. Theres no reason to buy low end digital synths in 2017.
What are the best drum machines I can buy used for under $200 that sound like live drums? I saw a Korg Volca and a Roland TR-505 that were really cool and good for 80s stuff but I need """real""" drums for my bedroom projects

how much is superior Drumer?
Everything Teenage Engineering is insanely overpriced, especially considering their lack of capabilities and limitations.
Just get a MIDI controller. They are cheap and literally infinitely more powerful.

For some odd reason I really want the OP1
Is the MPK mini any good?

Me too, actually. It's basically a toy but damn it's cute.
I think it's just designed really well.

>proprietary "make an account" software
it's a no from me.
other than that it's optimal. if you don't care about the fact that it requires proprietary software, it's great.

That's pretty common, though. You'll struggle to find a MIDI controller that doesn't use proprietary software nowadays, anyway. So yes, the MPK is great.
