Honestly the chorus (1:14) is pretty cool, the buildup to it starting at :56 is decent too. However, the pre-buildup at :36 is too much, they really didn't need to have a buildup to the buildup. Having that meh intro 3 times in the song, no real bridge, and having the 2 choruses being the same don't help. JYP buttfucked the structure into oblivion. That being said, I find it more interesting than something like Only You which is the safest of safest.

all good points. i think the actual buildup is from the prechorus at :55 but i guess you could say the verse is a prebuild up since more layers are added progressively starting with a minimalist/sparse verse > pre chorus > chorus

you mentioned no obvious bridge, I felt the Signal 을 보내 after the first chorus pretty much serves that purpose

the 2 choruses arent the same theres a change up at 2:37 but maybe it was al ittle bit too subtle

I think there was still a bit of shit hanging on from their Good Luck controversy as well. I remember the sales were doing pretty poorly and didn't pick up for about a week.
