save up and increase your budget to $300 and buy a used mexican p bass. unless you're looking for a specific sound.

gonna add to my original post that guitarcenter's online store normally has the best deals for used shit online. good return policy too. but ask one of your friend's that knows about guitars to help you so you don't end up buying a squier mislabled as a fender on their website or a broken bass.

I am looking for a specific sound, one that booms a car stereo. I know that sounds beginner, but I have some filter skills. plugins just aren't handling it.

you sound halfway retarded, what the fuck do you mean boom like how exactly does one bass boom more than another, because it sounds like you're just too autistic to know how to say you like sub-bass played thru a car sub, fucking christ

Just do electronic bass if you really want it to bump in the whip. It's extremely hard to make a real bass sound that heavy without muddying it.

the squier vm pj bass is cool
you can prolly get one for that much, used of course

This increase your budget. Not only do you need a good bass, but you're also gonna have to pay for amps and other accessories(Assuming you don't already have them). I'm still working with my first bass. I bought it used at my local gutiar store.
i got a peavy for about 185 in 2007
